why would you need to do have registration forms for parking in a public place, your not risking anything, your not driving, drifting, auto crossing...

i dont need to sign a form saying im not an asshat.

down in Fl there are weekly steak and lube meets with 200+ people. along with weekly sonic meets.... no forms to sign, just show up have a good time, if there are people being asshats, just let the Fuzz do their thing

^ that is definatally one of the aria`s that I was refering to when I said fine tuning

that and mandatory purchases.

Top foods was a far more supportive sponsor, They agree to our conditions based on the posability for increased revinue through higher level of advertised traffic ext. They dont require people to purchase anything, and are allready very enthusiastic about holding future meets.

Yeah, and I try to always host most of the Thursday Carls Jr/KK meets in Tacoma... So i'm glad I wont need to sign or purchase any decal just to park there on Thursday! I really don't know why you didn't get the public's opinion first before going straight to the source and organizing everything ..... IMHO.....

ok - decals are free. registration is free. If it really makes you mad that you have to sign a piece of paper saying that you won't act like a crazy person, then so be it.

Those that we know already who are responsible, and have been involved or affilliated with us in the past, will be automatically given the stickers or decal, or the signature identification for the meet.

The deal is, if you are adverse to going, then dont go. PM each other, talk about where you would like to meet, develop a plan that would work for everyone involved, and then go for it.

I understand its a public parking spot, but in reality, it isnt. Its a leased property through Krispy Kream - Public would be regarded as a park, or a government owned parking lot... Taking the political process in this thread of telling us that we're improperly implementing an element of control to stop the illegal activities is ludacris.

I'm not angry or frustrated at any of the posts people have put up here, because I've always put my word into things that have stirred controversy or felt they might cause inconvenience to my way of life.

In the end, you want a democratic meet where people just show up, have a good time, and everyone kicks it with as little drama as possible, with no obligations required to do so.

I say that in the end, the few would ruin that type of meet for the majority.

We are merely establishing the fact that we ARENT loitering, and we ARE organized to an extent. The details are rough, yes, but the final intent here is to have FUN, hang out, and enjoy good times, and meet new people.

You dont have to worry about the complicated parts - we'll take care of that for everyone. If you have a problem with something we've put into play, let us know, we'll work things out, and we're always open for more suggestions.

Its an effort we've made for the whole tuner community, and hopefully in the end, a positive result will eventually be seen.

you dont have to come if you dont want to, no problem. We would love to have everyone there, and if you have a business that is automotive oriented, then please BRING IT! We just ask that you write us prior, so we can make arrangments to reserve you a place to advertise your products!

AS for purchasing products from KK, that is on you. We ASK that you respect KK's generocity and contribute to their business. if you dont want to, thats fine. It just secure's us future events through that parking lot. Its a start, a beginning.

- we can do this anywhere, but everyone knows where KK is, and its the most challenging endeavor to have an organized event there, so I accept the challenge, and I will ensure that this succeeds.

If you have questions, please email me or pm me! Thanks again for the pro/con comments - keep me on my toes, and keep me thinking!

Good luck
by no means!!! I'm not trying to detract from anyone else's meets or organized gatherings. I actually encourage the meet up at southcenter, and I haven't had the opportunity to go to the meet, but I'll be sure to help out any way possible for those that dont wish to trek all the way down to tacoma's kk - I already talked with my friend Chris (hannahawaiin) with the meets he's hosted up at the Red Robin there, and if you wish to have meets there, we can help out with that as well!

hope this helps -

i don't think anyone is saying you're doing it improperly.. i'm personally saying that i think it's unnecessary. if there's already going to be police presence there, then as long as they're doing their jobs, no registration should be necessary. most people go to these things to just have fun, hang out. this just seems way too formalized for a gathering at a freaking donut shop.

but, you should be applauded for your attempt to .. do whatever it is you're trying to do to help the scene. a lot of people have ideas (good or bad) but very few get out of the idea stage.. good or bad, you're at least doing something.

I could see the possability of KK getting negitive feedback from people though.

Example: John doe goes in and gets some donughts in his civic. (he has nothing to do with the scene) parks in the buisness`s parking lot. begains to consume, then gets razzed by you guys about regestering to park there...ext, doesn`t want his plates on file, or anything to do with the meet, so he feel`s disencouraged to stay there, and complains to the company...somewhat of a longshot but I could see it happening.

It almost seems from my interpretation from this that your organisation would be taking jurisdiciton over anything that goes down in the parking lot...

It will be a lot of work for you guys, and I hope it all goes well.

Again, I'd like to raise the question of:

Why not move it out of Tacoma and off the Krispy Kream lot? lol.

If ya need another location let me know, Im sure I could work something out with top foods, there would be no cops, no one gives a crap if there is asshattery or not, (as long as its off the property, if its on property, they just call the plate number in to teh popo) and they wont force you to sign anything or buy there product. vendor space is never a problem either...and you dont have to deal with ghetoma, (yes I have lived there as well)

.... Southcenter along as Tacoma Mall has seen their share of shootings/bomb threats.... Not as safe as some may think... But anyways, I do host the Carls Jr meets on 6th Ave in Tacompton on Thursdays (about to have another one soon) and their parking lot is huge too, we use to park behind carls jr/next to bigfoot java in the bigger parking lot, but recently we've been parking up front along the road parking lot.

Edit: If anything, Fed. Way would be a bit more safer IMO at the Commons...

well to answer a few questions here... as well as the hypothetical situations...

I dont do hypothetical situations because you can develop a bazillion different things, but a generalized plan of action will cover just about any problem you think may occur.

Simply put, if there are patrons, we ask meet attendees to treat them with respect and courtesy. Thats common sense. They arent required to register if they are just going through the drive thru, or chilling out eating some doughnuts. The minute they do stay for 20, or 30 minutes, then start congregating with the other folks that are in the parking lot, THEN and only then will we ask them to sign our statement of liability.

If they go tearing ass through the lot, then again, thats on them, and they get the 1000 dollar negligent driving ticket, not us.

You think that the cops will just allow a bunch of unorganized individuals gather in an area that is posted 'no loitering' regardless of who you know, or what group you are with... without being able to implement a simple non-complicated form of control/regulation, then everyone will have to leave.

In the near future, once everyone gets on the same page, we will move the location, but not until everyone understands what is already required of them when they attend the future meeting location.

Preferrably, we would continue krispy kream until the end of January/February, then when weather begins to approve through spring, we can move it to another convenient location for those who have been forming up at the KK meet in the past.

Hope this helps - If you dont like the idea, formulate your own, then produce what works for you. If you need assistance, let me know.

Write me a pm - shoot me an email - I'll reply as quickly as I can possible. This is all out of my own personal time, 4-9 days after my 15 month deployment.

Lastly - Yes, this will kick off this friday. Friday first, then saturday as well in the near future. I may not have a logo design made up by friday, but we will have a temporary form of verification available along with the registration forms.

We will post up the updated dates/details on the first post as the schedule proceeds - we will have a photographer on site to take pictures!

later - kory

yep - someone has to stand up for the scene and present the scene in a professional manner. Not saying that other ways havent worked in the past, but we're going with this route to see how things turn out.

come on out, I guarantee you that the formalities wont even come into play until someone acts like an idiot. Its organized, but we're not being a-hole's about the stipulations in the agreements.

And no, we dont need your vin or license plate number. Basic car info for make/model, and driver info is fine.

sure why not?

I'll discuss this more in depth in the near future, but basically, this is a card that would give you the same type of membership that you would find at 'PER SE' Safeway club card -

Your affilliation with Project Alpha basically states that through us, and with your proven outstanding behavior, you will be applicable for discounts through our affilliated shops and businesses.

Of course, KK meets alone won't prove that you are a responsible indivudual/driver , but eventually, we will be able to go much more in depth with this concept.

We could even have different levels of endorsement for individuals that are more active in the scene, or have made it out to more meets, or have referred X amounf of individuals to different shops in the NW...etc, etc, etc. It takes time, and if people show the interest, then they will be rewarded with discounts, reduced charges, free oil changes, opportunities for sponsorships, etc.

Its about representing something much more than the individual - its representing the entire NW with one simple movement. Some will dislike it, but in the end, even those individuals will be baffled by the amount of exposure we offer businesses.

keep the posts coming! I will be coordinating with Erik Lyden with Fleet Signs tomorrow afternoon to try and get a logo design created. It may be something already generated at first since logo's take a while to produce,

The final logo design, member card layout will be put to a vote of approval through all forums. The one that recieves the most votes will obviously be the winner.

Also, the myspace page for the meet is in the works... Each week, we'll post up pictures so people can go on there and download pics and do the myspace thing.

bump it up - tomorrow night, rain or shine, bring out a rain coat just in case!

I have just finished up the statement of liability - nothing complex, just common sense things that everyone agrees to. Those that already comply to the common sense things just need to sign for compliance reasons (there I go again with the 'big brother' statements...).

Unfortunately, I wasnt able to get the logo design completed today due to unforseen complications.
So the temporary logo's will be the NOS energy drink stickers , or if you dont want the sticker, then we will have an 'approval' form that you can put on your dashboard. We are still coordinating with NOS energy drinks and we'll see if they can make an occasional appearance to the meets - they may not be able to make it every friday night, but at least they'll come out once or twice a month.

appologies to the delayed response - I've been swamped with emails and correspondence regarding this...
