I pulled a log after an auto-x day yesterday, and the first thing I noticed when I started the logger was that my IAM had dropped to 13. It had been at 16 for the previous several logs.
My main question is: if it is hot out (like 93F and maybe 100 heat index), and my IC is heat soaked (which I can only assume that it was because it was so hot outside), can a few launches cause the ECU to want to pull that much timing? Also, will the IAM work its way back up to 16 or should I reset the ECU? My data logs confirmed that timing was being pulled as my KC was 3-4* below my normalized KC table values. Also, what other parameter's in enginuity's logger should I be using to monitor timing and knock? Right now I'm basically logging base timing, KC, and IAM.

3-4*s????? Do you have your KC at 16 or something?
You should also log feedback correction, fine ignition learning, and something else I can't think of atm. If it is knocking from heat soak you may want to make it pull more timing from base using the intake temp timing compensation table. |

I have my KC map normalized at 11.5. I know that seems random, but a while back I was working towards advancing the timing some and one of the routes I took was adding a degree or two to the KC so the ECU could add that timing if it wanted too. Just so I'm clear, I was logging very
KC values after boost came on. In other words from about 4K to 7K my KC went from 11.5-->10-->9-->8-->7 which made me . I can post a log when I get home if that would help. |

Sorry Brock. Forgot that you were using one of my maps (don't correlate Enginuity with Nasioc too much). Yeah I'd like to take a look at the logs to see the total timing, it could just be that the heatsoak is just too much at the Auto-X since IC temps can reach well over 160* when the car is sitting.
The last Auto-X I was at I didn't have any problems though because I was using my 92 octane map with 94 octane to give me more insurance. |

Yeah, it was REALLY hot. Not a good day to be outside, made even worse by standing around on pavement with no breeze to speak of.
I made an attempt to try to alleviate some of the heatsoak problems by using a spray-bottle with a 50/50 mix of water and isopropyl alcohol kept in my cooler and then misting down the IC before getting in line for the start. That obviously did not work. So much for my ghetto IC spray idea. I'll PM you a couple of my logs later on. |
