Default F1 07 Round 15 Fuji Grand Prix

Should be a great race since no one has any recent experience on this course. As level of a playing field as we will get this year I expect.

Quote:
Japanese Grand Prix
The 4.563 m long Fuji Speedway circuit lies on the footsteps of Mount Fuji, one of the main symbols of Japan. It is close to Shizuoka, a city west of Tokyo. The first two Japanese GPs were hosted here, back in 1976 and 1977. The circuit was acquired by the Toyota Motor Corporation in 2000. Last year they have won its bid to host a Grand Prix event, replacing the much-loved Suzuka circuit as host to the Japanese Grand Prix in the 2007 Formula One season. This follows a major refurbishment of the track, using a new design form Hermann Tilke. Fuji was the first Formula One circuit ever featured on a videogame, Pole Position. It is also featured on Gran Turismo 4, where the circuit is available in three different layouts. This will certainly increase interest on the race, in a country where Formula One is already very popular. Fuji promises not to disappoint the fans, with its state –of-the-art facilities. The main straight length is 1,475m and it is the longest one out of the Grand Prix circuit.

The last sector is pretty tough in GT4, should be nothing for F1 though. Very excited because I don't have to wake up early to watch it .

Coulthard is going to be wearing a special helmet to pay tribute to Colin McRae at the Fuji race. Don't know if you guys had seen this yet.

I can't wait to see the cars blast down the main straight...maybe we'll see some good drag races as I don't think Fuji is a high downforce track.

Yeah, only three major series have raced there on the new configuration, and I didn't find any current F1 drivers in their rankings from 2003 on. Yuji Ide was there though, but I don't think he'll be back soon.

Shame Suzuka isn't on the calendar this year, as it's usually one of the best races of the year. I love this track on GT4, so should be cool.

Apparently, rain has been forecast:

Quote:
Nobody is quite sure what to expect, weather wise. However, there is the prospect of good and bad. There will be showers on Thursday, and an ambient temperature high of 25 degrees Celsius. That will improve on Friday to 28 degrees and sunshine, before scattered showers are forecast for Saturday, when the temperature will drop to 22 degrees. There is also a likelihood of showers on Sunday, as the temperature increases slightly.

Should make it very interesting.

Default Rosberg's Toyota motor changed

Rosberg will suffer a 10-place grid penalty because they found a problem w/his motor during inspection after Spa. He is running his injured Spa motor today, and will have a fresh motor for Saturday.

Bad news for all you folks like me who have picked Rosberg to finish in the points here...

Looks like Toyota is running the Ferrari front wheel hub caps. Did they have those on at Spa?

The perfect situation for me would be that Alonso tries to bump Hamilton off line and ends up breaking his suspension and causing a flat on Hamilton car as well.

That would make me a happy man.

And in the ensuing wreck takes out 12 people behind him putting David Coulthard in the lead.

Have you not seen what Coulthard is doing this weekend? He has a special helmet that's painted in honor of Colin McRae... he's going to get all of the other drivers to sign it... and he's donating it to McRae's wife.

I don't have a favorite driver in F1, so Coulthard may well be it from now on.

How about Kovy, that would make me happy. I do agree that what DC is doing is very nice, he has always struck me as a real classy person, more so than alot of the younger drivers.
