Nice job, came out really clean, what i would do is get an Sti sticker or WRX sticker and place it right in the middle of the lip, then put some gel coat over it. It will be shiny forever, i didnt dothat on mine because i forgot to get the stickers...Duhh
Nice work, also my hood is nowhere near done, i have about 8 layers on there right now, its pretty stiff but i havent finished with the Carbonfiber or kevlar layers. and its getting to cold. I'll see if we can get it done by spring.

i just have to say i love u this is one of the best diy's AND write ups ive ever read im starting this project today only 1 question y did u have to do the resin when it was mounted to your car why couldnt u resin it off the car?
and yea double sided tape would work fine for mounting as long as when u take it off use a blow dryer DO NOT use a heat gun that will bubble your paint |

If you use the actual bumper as the Plug, you will get a direct female mold. Its much easier this way, Unless youy use the Foamboard and cut it out exactly the way you would like |

Id rather spend the extra $50 and buy one...seems like alot of work for moderate to good results.

That looks like a ton of work. But I think it came out nicely. Now make one in Carbon Fiber.

The stuff you see above was $59 a yard.
Its pricey stuff, that lip originally cost $20 in material made out of fiberglass, then i re did it with 2layers of cf and 3 layers of fiberglass. WHich is what you see above. so that cost me $165 in the end, Plus about 6 hours in labor, because i made the mold previously. |

I wish it was still that shiny, I think i may take it off soon and wet sand the whole thing again, then do a 1/32" gel coat. Make it look new again

Actually i just posted on a different forum that im going to add a layer of Fiberglass and CF this Saturday/Sunday, its suppose to be 70 outside which is PERFECT weather.
Its definately nowhere near done, even when im done fiberglassing, i still ahve to fabricate a bracket to mount it to the car. Should be fairly simple, but that will have to be epoxyed to the hood, then fiberglassed and attached with kevlar. It will be interesting, and a long process but as long as it stays somewhat warm i can keep working at it. |
