Works for me I drive about 6 miles a day. Sucks for people that drive a lot though...

... it'll never happen. Don't worry about it.

Ya, I drive 14 miles everyday, except that I've spent just about every other weekend in So Cali the past 3 months.

Paying per mile rather than with gas tax isn't a bad idea. Tracking my vehicle is not ok though.

So reward Ford Excursion driving soccer moms and penalize the environmentally responsible individuals who drive hybrids or alternative fuel vehicles? Seems like a raise in federal fuel taxes is a better solution. The number of people making their own fuel is negligible so they shouldn't have even bother mentioning them.

Yea that is stupid, if I get 5 miles to the gallon I pay 6 cents in tax on a gallon. If I get 40 miles to the gallon I have to pay almost 50 cents a gallon in tax. Sounds like a brilliant idea

Exactly. This smacks of interest group involvement. Also, anybody that thinks the price of gas is going to drop because of this is fooling themselves.
