Post MY02 OBS vs MY02 WRX Wagon?

Still contemplating becoming a 3 Impreza household, but after looking only @ the MY02 OBS and the MY02 WRX Wagon, I'd really like a good technical comparison. I mean down to the last tidbit of data where difference and similiarities occur.

I really would prefer a turbo'd 2.5l than the 2.0l, even if its aftermarket. Maybe especially since I think an aftermarket turbo can be better than the stock turbo. But what about other differences? Suspension? Tranny differences? How about Front/Rear torque split between the two?

Body paneling differences? Lights? Seats? Anything?

What do we know, what do we estimate, what do we conject are the differences? Currently, I am _very_ happy with my wife's MY01 RS 4EAT performance, and when we turbo it later this summer, I think I'll be ecstatic. I am less than impressed with what I've heard about the WRX on and off this board, and I wonder if the $7,000 difference is really justified? If I got a WRX Wagon, it is very likely I'd dump the stock suspension soon enough, so would I better building a car out of the new OBS (2.5l!) than going with the WRX Wagon and building up?

Let's hear details people. For the good of speed, stability, handling, and fingers pointing at one's car!

Let see
-rear discs
-hood scoop (for turbo)
-momo steering
-World Rally blue
-longer gears
-limited slip diff
-VTD(4EAT)
-heated seats
-no door mouldings
-6CD indash
-keyless entry system..
-sport suspension vs raised

If your really looking to build up a car why not step down to the TS and build that, is essentially the same as the outback except for no fogs, normal suspension, one color, no rims and still has rear drums and same 2.5L engine.

Hope this helps, actually most of this came from a brochure, except for the gears part thats in MY02 Owners manual.

Just to give you and idea

TS/Outback 1st 29 mph 2nd 48mph 3rd 68
WRX 1st 35 mph 2nd 61mph 3rd 87

I'd get the WRX just because of the seats... That Cloth in the Outback is horrid!!! (No offense to 2002 OBS owners)

drop those 2 cars since u want to build the car up anyways. Why not just get the older lighter GC8 models? You get 300lbs lighter right off the bat.

I already own a 1997 OBS auto which is a prime candidate for a build up. I want a fast daily driver

I sold my 99 OBS (red/silver 5spd) to buy a blue WRX after seeing it in person. Yep, the price one will pay for a WRX wagon ain't cheap, but when you see it in person you'll grin from ear to ear and pony up the extra 7 grand. I've had 3 OBS wagons, loved each of them. This wagon is in a class above and really has all of the components of a elegant high performance wagon. And for a few dollars more my wagon will obtain stupd levels of performance. Its so smooth from 0-100, it doesn't feel like one is flogging their wagon. Besides, would you rather be turning wrenches and sorting out aftermarket compatibility glitches with your evenings and weekends......or simply driving?

Best wishes on your decision....but as for me and my house, we drive the WRX wagon :-)

From your requirements listed, it sounds like you should go for a TS, not an OBS. If you want to build up the car yourself and like working on your vehicles, go with a TS. If you just want a fast car with little hassle, obviously the WRX is the car for you. From your messages, it sounds like the TS would be a better choice.

Plenty of details are available on Subaru's website if you want specific measurements.

Good luck.
