Default WRX Pedals on a BE

So after a few misguided attempts, I figured someone else could use this to save a bunch of time trying to change the pedals on the BE to a WRX or STi or whatever pedals from another Subaru.

The brake and clutch covers are straightforward; just follow the writeup on Scoobymods for the RS version of this, and you'll be golden. My only extra advice is I would use some silicone lubricant on the top part of the rubber backing of your pedal pad to make prying the top lip over the metal pedal backs easier.

Now the gas pedal cover. In the Scoobymod writeup, they just took the whole gas pedal assembly out. Easy (an extra one came with my pedal covers, so I thought just a straight swap was needed).

Not on the BE;the bracket is different. In all of Subaru's wisdom they chose to add another plastic clip that makes it a PIA to get the bracket away from accelerator cable. Thus, you can't just take the whole bracket out easily unless you unhook the entire accel cable under the hood and push it through the firewall.

After a few tries trying to press out the gas pedal pin while inside the car, I just took the pedal arm out of the bracket. MUCH more easier to swap the gas pedals out while it's on a bench .

To take the gas pedal arm out, you'll need a blade or some sort and needle nose pliers.

First, get the blade under the clip that holds the arm to the bracket, and tilt the blade upwards. It should bend the clip - repeat around the entire clip until it looks like this:

Now just take the pliers and work the clip out of the cylinder:

Now you can slide the pedal arm out and swap the pedal covers, per Scoobymod.

(I know, I couldve just swapped out the arms and be done with it, but long story short, my previous failed attempts left me with two pedal arms w/ no covers and a wrx pedal floating around.)

Now put the arm back into the bracket in your car, and slide the clip back. Just flip the clip over and with the little tabs pointing AWAY from the bracket, slide back over the cylinder. Use your pliers to make sure it sits as flush to the bracket as possible. Don't forget to put the spring back that hooks onto the pedal arm

After all's said and done:
