ok, i have a question on what size speakers the wrx has in the front and rear? and any other speakers that can be replaced. also, anybody have any recoommendations on what speakers are good. im aiming towards infiinity right now, but would like more suggestions. price is not a problem but i am not looking to spend that much. im looking for crystal clear sound and some nice bass behind it. but i am not going to install a subwoofer. any suggestions of a good set up for some nice sounding music is apprecated. thanks a lot

Infinity Kappa Perfects are very nice and JBL GTi speakers are fantastic

You can do a search and actually come up with several threads on WRX speaker sizes and speakers people like. Up front are 6.5" components, and 4" in rear although it seems 5.25" can fit as well with little/no modifications. If you have the upgraded speakers you already have the spacer for the front speakers, else you'll have to find one (Best Buy, Circuit City, online, etc.). As far as speakers, go listen and see what you like. Bring your favorite type of music to listen to as well. As a rule of thumb you can pretty much go by price. Everyone makes a certain quality speaker for X amount, but Y amount gets you a better speaker.

The front doors even WITH the upgraded speakers have an allowable depth of about 1 1/4" MAX. If you use a spacer, the front of your speaker will hit the inside front of the door panel and your door panel won't fit. Any quality set of speakers will not fit as the window rolls down and smacks right into the magnet structure of the speaker. The rears are a TAD easier because the windows don't roll down all the way.
What I did on my WRX was order a set of Qlogic kick panels, they fit 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speakers, either coax or component sets. They go for about $120 and they sit against your lower kick panels to give a decent image and good protection. The only speaker I have found besides a Pioneer or Infinity (which both kinda leave ya wishing they would do a little more) is a speaker from a German company Vifa. They make a few speakers ot fit that have competition sound quality for a decent price (about $100 each for 6 1/2") and can even get you matching tweeters. Search the web as far as places that sell them. The model number on the kick panel pods is QLU-5001. They fit nice and look decent ![]() Good luck! Marc |

If you do a search on this forum (e.g. for "door speaker"), you will find threads that include exact measurements of the available depth to window, space above the metal to the plastic door panel, etc. You will also find many descriptions of successful installs of speakers w/depth >1 1/4" using spacers, with the speaker not hitting the plastic door panel.
