Who did you buy it from? I measured the bolt holes (four on snout) and it is 120mmx90mm. Check yours against that measurement.

Looks like an old open diff out of an Impeza L 1.8L- except that it looks new. It's not a R160 or R180, that much I'm sure of.

The second one you linked to is an R160 out of an Impreza or Legacy non-turbo, various years.

Why do you need to know?

This would be a "VA" type rear differential with 4.111 final drive ratio and no LSD. It is likely out of a GC body 2.2L with automatic trans. The VA type diffs were only used with auto trans models. I don't think the VA type diffs were Nissan derived units...I think they were actually a Subaru designed unit. Probably not as strong as an R160 as they didn't have to design them to handle the kind of shockloading a manual trans drivetrain would endure.

Not of much value except to a guy with an auto trans in need of a replacement.

I think the for sale threads he has posted up to this point, and his unwillingness to disclose where he is getting parts like these makes the possibility that they are stolen very high. I am glad that some very knowledgeable mods in the Subaru parts world are noticing this guy...things are very shady looking right now.

You should have said that the first 10 times someone asked "where did you get these parts?"

Just seems a little odd that someone would have brand new subaru parts and not know what they are.

Just make sure you change all your for sale threads to what the diff actually is, even the E-bay listing. Someone will buy it not knowing what the heck they are getting.

As far as us all giving you a hard time, we don't put up with scammers here on Nasioc and do all we can to head it off before it becomes a problem. Not being jerks, just trying to get the facts straight.

I'm sure you can understand what we were doing. Right?
