Default Is there such thing as a "fast" track?

I drive an '02 stage two bugeye and I ran it for the second time on the 1/4 mile last night. Months ago when I went for the first time, I ran a 14.1 and then a 13.9. This was at a track that I now have heard has a reputation for being a "fast" track. At a different track last night, I couldn't break a 14.3 and I really feel that I have learned to drive the car better, but the numbers didn't show it. Is this common with drag strips?

Yes, there is. Altitude and the way the track is prepped both are determining factors on how well you will run. Additionally, the type of weather you run in will have an effect as well.

I see. Last night was 75 degrees while I remember my first run being very cold.

Yes there is. We used to have two tracks in town. I would consistently trap 2mph faster at one vs the other. The ET was the same however.

Atco and Etown ?? Your located in NJ so it just assumed so. Atco tends to be a "faster" track for some reason... Cant explain it, but have experienced it..

All else being equal, the ADJUSTED ALLITUDE is the most important factor to be a consistant drag racer. When I was racing from the time we arrivied at the track thursday nite or friday am, we took readings with our weather station and logged them every 1/2-1hour[ every 15 minutes during actual racing]. All adjustments on a race car are determined by the adjusted alt. before the next run]. Now for your answer; some tracks are ALWAYS faster than others, but any track can be fast on a given day if the adjusted altiude is low. The fastest track I have raced on is Mission Raceways in Mission B.C.
