Welcome.
You'll find the "search" button helpful for questions like this. It's been debated quite a bit. Subaru says you don't need one. I let it run a little before shutting it down. Search link here. |

I will do a search I guess I would like to know the long term effects on the turbo of NOT having a TT on the car and just shutting it off Last edited by GM991; 01-16-2002 at 07:31 AM. |

GM991, like SubEd said, you'll find answers to your questions (and
a ton more info) through a search. Here's a brief recap (run the search to get more opinions/info): Turbo timer helps the turbo cool down by letting your car idle after you leave it. Basically, it keeps the oil running through the turbo, letting it cool down, and not over-cook and get sludgy. However, a Subaru tech/pr person sent an email to someone explaining why that is not needed (TT are popular on other turbo'd cars), it has something to do with water evaporating after the car is shut off, and that cooling down the turbo. Many will tell you not to bother, others will tell you that you need it. From my perspective, it can't hurt, and my TT is also a boost gauge, so it solves 2 problems for me. good luck... |

sure - i got the boost gauge/tt at http://www.defi-shop.com/index.html
however, as their site says, they don't sell them online. you should be able to get them through a shop that sells other defi products, and i know another person was selling the same thing in the i-club classifieds (i'd try one of the vendors in the vendor class forum if you want to buy a new one). there are other tt combos, like tt and boost controller, or tt and 0-60/1/4 mile counter, something like that... |
