Arrow Gauging interest in an intercooler waterspray kit...

Hello all SE members,

I'm currently putting together a intercooler waterspray kit for all MY02 WRX sedans and wagons.

This kit would use the wagons second washer pump, wiper stalk control and STi spray nozzles...everything will be plug-and-play with NO wire cutting necessary.

The wagon kit would only require that you disable your rear spray nozzle and re-route the pump to STi spray nozzles and will probably cost about $50 for the nozzles and associated hoses and mounting instructions. You could probably do this yourself, but for those not wanting to bother I'm offering an alternative.

The sedan kit will include a new WRX wagon pump, wiper stalk and STi nozzles and hoses (and of course instructions) and will sell for about $150.

These will be manual kits (not "auto"). Also, these kits will be pefect for those not wanting to cut wires and/ or wanting to use the blanks beside the cruise and fog buttons for other things.

This kit will be ready in about 2-3 weeks and at that time I'll post pics of it on my car.

If there's enough interest, I'll sell VERY limited runs of the kit and take it from there.

Thanks,

-Mike.

Unhappy

no MY99-01 owners?

If you have seen posts of people packing their ICs with ice after 1/4 mile runs, you would be less skeptical about IC sprayers. Once the water you are spraying is cold, the gains will be there.

Talking

This is another one of those instances where the base wiring is there. It's just a matter of buying the right parts and putting something together.

I'm with you martel... you can always benefit from the "ooooos" and "aaaahs" when people see steam rising from your hood scoop!

BTW, did you receive the BOV yet?

EDIT: Nick, you must have posted while I was replying to martels post. You'd probably be better off going with one of the aftermarket waterspray kits. The only reason this one interested me was that it was "plug-and-play" and not much really needs to go into it to make it work... I'm not too much of a techie myself.

I'm sure I could put something together fro the RS, but it would involve a higher cost for such items as a new washer bottle with a second pump, waterspray switches, etc. and since MRT already has a kit for a competitive price, it's not really worth the effort.

Arrow Hmmm...

Doesn't seem like there's much interest... oh well, thought I'd ask.

I'll have it installed on my car in about a week or so and I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Lightbulb update

Well, the kit is in and working fine.

I currently have 2 garden mister nozzles attached to the hoses which is less than ideal, but OK until I get the STi nozzles in 2 days.

It was slightly more difficult than I anticipated because you have to drill a hole in the washer bottle and buy a rubber grommet from Subaru to fit the second pump.

Once it's finished, everything will look factory and it works great.

As soon as the STi nozzles are in, I'll stop by Troncalli and have Lisa post some pics of the finished product.

I WOULD definitely be interested in a kit BUT

I would want it to use the STi switches. My only catch. I've seen them around the web, and that's probably what I'll get.

Arrow

I would imagine the "manual" STi switch would be easy to wire into the system.

The "auto" switch would require alternate wiring and temp. sensors.

I chose my current route because the factory plugs already exist. You just have to unplug the old part and plug in the new one!

The only real manual processes will be to drill a hole in the washer bottle and 2 small holes in the hood scoop plate.

There's definitely nothing wrong with a manual system.

It's just that I think the easiest way is a fully automatic system. Just turn it on and it does the rest.

I think MRT makes one like that...

Lightbulb mostly not STi...

martel,

Most fo these parts are Std. WRX (wagon) parts. The only STi parts are the spray nozzles.

I'll have pics up this weekend or early next week.

Thanks,
-Mike.

Thumbs up Pics are coming...

STi nozzles are finally in.

Pics should be up by Friday, although I'm still ironing out the hose placement under the hood. I've ordered a couple of Subaru "Y" connectors for the sprayer hose, which should make for a cleaner install.

More than likely, these will be availble on www.airbornemotorsports.com shortly... details to follow.

The kit should be up on Airboremotorsports early next week... I may post in the vendor classifieds as well.

I'm looking into several fitment options as well as a possible RS kit in the future.

Thanks for your interest everyone!

just to let you all know that we're gathering parts, and making sure all legalities are in order.

These should be on sale in a week or so.
