Question Steering wheel w/controls - swap?

Hi all. I'm possibly buying an '05 LGT, and wanted to know if it was possible to swap the newer cars' wheels with the radio control buttons, onto the '05. Would it even work?

Wasn't sure if this was best in here or in the A/V forum, figured I'd go here.

Just sold my '05 LGT and purchased an '08 spec b. Don't think it would work. The wheel on the LGT (a Momo) is totally different than the newer ones (Subaru made??) with the cruise and radio adjustment buttons (as well as the information buttons attached on the lower left and the S# button on the lower right for cars with the Si drive). From what I understand, the newer wheels apparently operate through a system of "brushes" or pick ups that enable the buttons to work. These would not be present on the older car (unless you did some serious work). But, I am not the most technical person on here...

My first thought was that many of the electronics or pre-wiring wouldn't even be there, but I wondered if the EDM/JDM versions of the '05 or '06 might've had button wheels. So I figured there might be hope.

The new wheel may still be a Momo design. Much like the Imprezas, I mean some had "Momo" on there and some didn't, even though it was still 95% the same wheel, except for some different stitch or something.

Yeah, the '05 LGT said "momo," and had rally nice smooth and perforated leather with discreet stitching, whereas the '08 is all smooth with chunkier stitching. It does not say "momo" nor does any of the literature that came with the car indicate that. Overall, the newer wheel is fatter (girthier) and less attractive (to me anyway). But, that is about the only thing I am not crazy about on the car!

I know they do sell the wheel, but I have no idea what kind of work would be involved to get the buttons to work. I'm not sure if its an upgrade for a car with the buttons already or an addon. http://www.thekingofparts.com/servlet/Detail?no=386
These guys are great, so it'd probably be best to shoot them an email and see.

I have a 08 2.5i Limited, and I took the radio control buttons from the 08 GT and they work just fine. But that's likely because the 2.5i Limited and higher all have the same 6 disc changing radio in 08.

Unless the wheel and the radio are the same, I doubt it would work.
