Default noob to the turbo world

OK i have my flame suit. but my friends with turbos all have loud blow off valves. they are VW's are Subaru's just quieter. i read the sticky about them and air intakes. would getting an intake be worth it if you just want that noise. or is there any other way to make it louder.

I don't think you have your flame suit zipped up. You might want to check that and rethink what you posted.

The blow off valve resurculates the air back into the intake system, hence why you don't hear the loud "burst" of air when it releases.

There are few things nasioc hates more than BOV's and the threads that discuss them.......

But to attempt to answer your question, the safest thing to do would be to get the SPT intake from Subaru - https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/p...oducts_id=1075 . This will give you a nice air intake/engine noise along with giving you the ability to hear the stock valve doing its thing, giving you the BOV sound. It is safe for your engine, will not void your warranty, and looks nice under the hood.

Not saying anything about performance changes the intake will or will not make....

This is true...you can hear the wastegate though

The bypass mod is the best thing, it is FREE, EASY, and you can hear your turbo a bit more...I have a 07WRX... most WRX owners might tell you to keep your car on the downlow...we already look like we speed, why add to it with lots of noise(exhaust, bov, all that jazz)

But I too of course would love to hear my BOV once in a while...just the ricer in me...ha.

You won't gain any power from an intake at your level...at mine I could...but I didn't have one before I got tuned...and I might have gained 10whp if that...

Have fun, be careful with your mods...make sure your decisions/purchases are proven/worth while ones You already got a Subie...so there is the first step in enlightenment.

Oh like everyone said...we have recirculatory BPV...your friends most likely have atmospherical BOV

You would definitely hear the BPV with the silencer mod.

orly? because I did the silencer mod the 1st week I owned the car and you still can't hear it, all it did was ever so marginally increase spool sound.

did you throw in a K&N filter with the silencer delete? because thats how you get the most sound...i dont think a normal filter would give you the same sound...
