Default '07 STi - Ebrake Sticking

I had my '07 STi parked outside at work yesterday, and the weather was intermittent rain showers throughout the day. When I left work, and release the ebrake to drive away, the brake stuck, and I had to start moving the car to get it to release. It did release with a "clunk", and seemed to be fine afterwards.

Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

I had that once on my 05 WRX when it had been very wet and the car had sat overnight. Mine released with more of a bang than a clunk. Hasn't happened since and I have not noticed any detrimental effects. I put it down to some water getting in the drum-in-hat parking brake and rusting the lining to the drum.

keep in mind that if you've been on your brakes HARD that they do heat up.

after 1 - 20 minute track session my rotors measured to over 800 degrees F.

Setting the E-brake on hot rotors can cause it to fuse together. Just a thought.

I doubt he got the rotors that hot on his way to work unless he works at Laguna Seca.

I would assume its just a little rust like the previous posters mentioned. Don't think you have anything to be worried about.

Nah dont worry about it unless it becomes more and more often.

You can always losen up your ebrake too if you are concerned.

Yes, actually I was in stop and go traffic for the last mile to work. The brakes were definitely cool.

We've had some more rainy days since my original post, and the ebrake has not stuck again. Maybe it was just a one-time thing.

Thanks to all of you who replied.
