Default San Juan Natives...

For so long, I've been wanting to visit Puerto Rico... and now's the time. I'm not familiar with San Juan, or your island for that matter. I've been looking into different hotels/resorts and wanted your opinion of where to stay.

Here's a list of the hotels that I have found. I don't know exactly where they are located in the city. Would you please tell me if their location is nearby Old San Juan and all the main attractions?

Caribe Hilton
Condado Plaza Hotel
Westin Rio Mar Beach and Country Club
Wyndham El San Juan

If you know of any better place to stay, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Pearl

Caribe Hilton and Condado Plaza Hotel are almost next to each other in Condado, San Juan.

Wyndham El San Juan in in Isla Verde and like a 7 minute car ride from Condado and 2 minutes from the Airport.

These 3 are in the metro area but the first two are in a more turisty area as there is much more to see and do plus little shops for you significant other to go into, that is, if you are not travelling alone. They are the closest to Old San Juan unless you get a room in Windham Old San Juan (I think that's the name) or Hotel El Convento, which are in Old San Juan.

There is also one of the bigest mall in the world, but for certain the bigest in the carebeean.

I could take you to El Yunque rain forest for sightseeing. And if you need a ride somewhere, let me know.

Leo,

Thank you for the info.
I don't suppose you know how nice these hotels are? All I have to go by are pictures which could be deceiving.

Forgive my ignorance, but is Old San Juan where all the main attractions are?

My father has been to PR, and told me to visit the rain forests there. If you are going to be around, I'm definitely going to take you up on your tour offer!

One of my friends and I are just beginning to plan this, for sometime in late May. Is the weather decent? Anything's better than Chicago weather now Or is late May a rainy season?

Actually, It's always 80║ weather year round.

http://puertorico.com

http://www.puertorico-hotel.com/database-frameset.htm

On the last site, stay in San Juan and Old San Juan.

The hotels in my first post are all very nice. If you want, I can also recommend from the Ritz Carlton all the way down to a beach front Guest House. It all depends on your budget.

Caribe Hilton and Windham El San Juan would be my choices.

There is also an Intercontinental San Juan right next to the Windham El San Juan.

Thanks again!

It's getting cold here... and we're finding really good deals for early March, so we're keeping that option open.

I'll touch base with you when we decide exactly when we're coming.

take care,
Pearl

Well, my friend and I are finally coming to San Juan in a couple weeks May 22 - May 26 to be exact. We cannot wait to see your homeland and we may be looking for tour guides.

We kinda have an idea of places to visit, but we're looking for ideas from you guys on where to go and where not to go.

Feel free to shoot me an email... and thanks in advance for you input

Leo,

Funny you mentioned Florida... we just went there in March to get away from the cold weather in Chicago.

We definitely want to see the Rain Forest. And we're looking to spend time sight seeing in Old San Juan. I hear the Bacardi Rum Factory is there... but is it worth visiting?

We want to know where to go for night life, and maybe recommended restaurants for an authentic dinner.

I heard that taking the taxi can be expensive... and that maybe we should just rent a car. Is that true?

Thanks,
Pearl

Niiiice pic!

BacardÝ is a good visit (read: free rum!) Renting a car is not a bad move, though I can show you arround the Rain Forest and some other places.

Places to eat I can show you a lot!

How many will be traveling?

Fantom,
That's a beautiful pix of the Island... I can't wait to come!

Leo,
Thank you for volunteering to take us around. I throw down rum, so I guess the Bacardi Factory is a plan. There are only two of us traveling... me and my friend Ruth... two cute little Asian ladies

We're always up for some pizza... but, coming from Chicago, we have high standards for pizza We just want to be engulfed in your culture

Progy, down boy, down!

Yeah, my wife and I would be glad to show you arround!

We have a couple of places in our list to take you to get good "Puertorican" food.

Since it's just you 2 it's ok, here I was picturing me needing a mini-van to transport 4 + my wife and I.

You'll have loads of fun. If you stay in Isla Verde, there are a couple of good spots for nightlife.

DAMN!
Just looked at your dates and found a problem (for me) I'll be in Orlando from the 24 till the 27! Prog, are you up for tour guide dutties?

Leo,
Thanks again for the offer... too bad you'll be in Orlando I'd appreciate it if you could just jot down some of the good restaurants on your list and we'll try to make it there on our own.

Prog,
We really are cute (so we've been told)... sure you don't want to show us around? I'm just kidding. Maybe we can hang out Friday night or Saturday...

Anyone else free for tours?

Thanks,
Pearl
