Default Basic question: What SS brake lines for BD/BG/BK?

I put SS brake lines on the car waaaaay back in 2000. I have no indication that they're about to fail on me or anything like that, but I figure they're due for replacement after 7 years and nearly 140,000 miles. I think that the lines on the car are Goodridge, but I don't remember. When I search for lines on Tire Rack, it only shows one set available for the '97 Legacy - "Note: G-Stop 4 Line Stainless Steel kit. For models w/ rear drums. Includes wagon." I ain't got no rear drums, so that's not me.

Looking at Goodridge's application catalogue, they show the set for the rear drums, and then another set that covers '90-00 but says "Rear Disc Incl. Wagon, Exc. GT & Outback Wagon". Now, does that mean "except GT and except Outback wagon", or does it mean "except GT wagon and Outback wagon"? The same part number (24212) is shown to cover all '92-01 Imprezas with "2 & 4wd w/ Rear Disc All Models". Based on the Subarus = Legos Theory it seems like that should work just fine for me, but I dunno, and of course nobody ever lists our old, forgotten Legacys on their websites anymore.

I'd appreciate some help from someone who's done this recently. Oh, and I'm not stuck on Goodridge lines, I was just using their catalog for research purposes, so if you've got a part number for another brand feel free to post it.

Thanks,
Pat Olsen

I don't know if they were re-branded or not, but I originally got mine from Cobb.

Based on the "Lego's theory, you should be fine to go, but maybe you should source them from someone local?

In all honesty, even with that many miles, how many people replace the stock brake lines? I think you are probably fine leaving them alone as long as they look in decent shape.

I would read that as saying except wagon versions or GT and outback.

While they don't necessarily need to be replaced, it's good for piece of mind, and it doesn't cost much to do it. Goodridge's site says their lines are good for "life of the vehicle, usually stated as 150k miles." So I'm getting there. I know of at least one HPDE fatality within the past few years where the guy had a brake line failure and stuffed his car at high speed, and I'm sure there have been non-fatal offs due to brake line failures, too.

I think I'm a name brand snob when it comes to something like brake lines. Has anyone ever heard of Magnum brake lines?

I'm currently running Goodridge 24212 lines from ImportRP, I believe they give a discount to NASIOC members.

EDIT: $99 for NASIOC members

I had already asked spdracr00 to find the part # and price for me, so I bought from him (Primitive Enterprises). Cost me more, but such is life.

I just put a set of generic wrx goodrich lines on my 98 outback. I'm running 02 wrx struts, and the lock in on the struts don't work.. so they are zip tied onto the strut.. kind of ghetto but seems like it will work.

I haven't had mine attached to anything the entire time they've been on the car. I used to zip-tie them to the strut, but I stopped doing that years ago.
