Default Protune No EM?

Ok, so I want to get a protune for my 02 WRX and was wondering if I don't want the benifits of the AP, for switching maps and going back to stock and so forth, could I just get my stock ECU tuned to Stage 2, kinda like a taxtrics cable...... and if I do need some sort of EM what kind is cheap that I can protune my car through....thanks

Enginuity is free. I use it and it basically manipulates the stock ECU and I got around 260 awhp in my stage two STi with it
