Im tied between getting some new wheels (18x8.5 wrapped in 255/40/18) or some power mods. ill get the wheels and tires but im a little more concerned if they will rub against the stock struts than it rubbing against the fender because that means more $$$ spent on coilovers. im currently dropped on H&R sports and on the stock struts.

so the question is will 255/40/18 have major issues (rubbing against the struts) on a stock suspension with h&R springs? any experiences? are coilovers a must?

H&R's are really low, and since you haven't stated an offset there is no way to tell whether or not anything will rub. My guess is you're gonna rub inside and outside.

Oh and usually when one posts at 1:30 AM they leave at least until 8 AM to start asking why nobody has responded

You won't rub the struts but you will rub on the fenders. Rolling should fix that. 255/40-18 is too tall for a 2.0L WRX anyway, IMO.

They look more proportionate to the wheel, and the wheel and tire combo fill in the fender nicely from all angles than with 17s, IMO. and as an extra safety precaution from curbing. im not necessarily going to track whore the car but the occasional spirited driving up a mountain is common for me. as for tires, im really not sure. some all seasons maybe. Its more of a 'want' than a 'need'
