Default More cool roads

I haven't been down here in awhile but I remember it as being very senic and fun to drive... best of all there was hardly anyone on these roads!

From San Jose take 101 south to 25. Take 25 through Holister towards Pinnacles park. Pass the entrance to pinacles--the road is actually pretty fun from holister to the intersection (T) at 198. When you get to 198, turn left towards Coalinga. Great twisty roads that go over a few small mountains and through some very nice valleys. Have Lunch in Coalinga and come back!

Some kewl things about 25 (south of Pinnacles):

the first time I took this road (about 10 years ago) some of it was still dirt!

In the spring time there is a large Tarantula migration--please do not run over them! Get out and watch them--they are cool!

It isn't black, its blue!

Default even more fun.....

Since you are down that way, heading south on 25 a few miles past Pinnacles there is a left to San Benito, which is little more than a couple of farms at a fork in the road.
Head south from San Benito on the "Old Hernandez" road, it turns to dirt and twists along for quite a ways, there is a chance to get back to 25, but continuing on the back road takes you down to Coalinga with lots of turns and little traffic.

Heading south off of 198 there is the Parkfield grade road, which is all dirt and winds for about 28 miles over a mountain to Parkfield, pop 34, the self-proclaimed "Earthquake capitol of the World"
