Default 2009 Forester to Debut at Detroit Auto Show?

According to the NAIAS October Newsletter at http://www.naias.com/uploadedfiles/N...rNAIAS2008.pdf, Subaru plans a world debut at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this January. Since the full-model-change (FMC) 2009 Forester will begin arriving on dealers' lots in March, I think there's a good chance it is the world debut that Subaru is planning for Detroit.

wwOOOHOO!!!!!!!! let the speculation for the 09 forester begin!!!!!!!!!

so its gonna be on the 08 impreza chasis
its probably gonna be about 4 inches longer and possibly a inch taller.. the interior will be kinda scalped like the new impreza (to get more interior room)
it will have a H4 and H4t.. i hope they will offer a H6 in this beast
it will have AWD STANDARD

... They'll do another Sports XT, but this time go w/ the 5EAT w/ push button shifters from the Legacy GT/ Outback XT.

... If so, then I'm buying one.

Dear Subaru,

Please please please do NOT follow the supersizing trend of mini-utes. Yeah, I'm talking about your fat arses, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

i think they should give away a Nitro Snowboard with every model. I mean whats the use of partnering up with Nitro if u dont reap the benifits. More publicity for nitro and another reason to get a forester

I have heard nothing official about the unveiling. I would assume it would be before christmas but you never know.

There is a very very long thread at subaruforesterowners forum about speculation.

I wouldnt be optimistic though, I have a terrible feeling about the forester going mainstream.

The forester design might be aging, but its a very good design. I think they should just do minor tweaks (more leg room, more ground clearance) etc. Just because something is old, doesnt mean it needs a redesign.

Excellent I will be at the SHOW. I will post some pics. I will be there on the 25th. The net will probably be flooded by then.

From what I've heard, the '09 Forester is to the '08 Tribeca what the Nissan Rogue is to the Nissan Murano. Basically, think smaller 5-passenger Tribeca.

A knowledgeable Subaru salesman said the current FXT Sports is a way for Subaru to test the market for a real Forester STI in America. If the FXT Sports sells well, we might get a Forester STI in 2008 or 2009, according to him.

see what i heard is the 09 forester still seems like a forester from the exterior, but seems tribecalike from the inside.. the exterior is said to have gotten a little blander, but nothing like the tribeca shell

See, what I've heard is that the new Forester will look exactly like the old one, except the horn will play "La Cucaracha"!

Nah. Exiga will be the new people-mover Subaru needs for Japan (& hopefully sends elsewhere eventually), so a production version would debut at Tokyo. Besides, going from just releasing a concept to debuting a production model in a span of just a few months is toooo fast.

I'm goin' w/Forester for the debut.

Ouch. I was thinking it was going to be more sculpted out than scalped.

I'm very serious about buying a Forester this spring. My eye is on the 08 FSXT... But I do love the new tribeca interior. So my figers are crossed for a 09 FSXT.

knowledgeable Subaru salesman = 404 not found

Even if true, this "test" is really frustrating. They offer what is basically just a slight upgrade package with no power improvements, and if it doesn't sell, they think nobody wants an STI version, which would be a different animal entirely (same pronblem with the Legacy Spec B).
