Default Exel Radius : Need Feedback

I'm looking into these wheels, they look rockin on the wagon, but I was wondering what the quality is like.

Of course the most common answer is "you get what you pay for"

But if you look at the ebay tmic, fmic, turbo inlet, ... success stories.
& I had a pair of rage wheels that bent like butter ($100 a wheel) and had a pair of MB Weapons that took punishment without a dent. (also $100)

So does anyone have them that can offer some feedback based on experience?

If you are planning on buying from Wheelmax, I would look at something else. From what I can see they are the only place selling the Exel line of wheels. Those guys are terrible at customer service, to the point of being rude and confrontational. And their website is inaccurate as well. I searched around after my purchase (should have thought about that first, I know), and found quite a few horror stories on various other forums, mostly Honda and Mazda related.

I bought a set of Exel 003 model rims, they were supposed to be 17x7.5 +48. I even called to verify that they would fit my car, and the salesman assured me that they were a +48mm offset. They were cheap, so I gave them a shot. When they arrived, all of the wheels were +40. Said so right on the boxes they shipped in. First I called Wheelmax, they told me that wheel didn't come in a 48 offset and that I must have ordered the wrong ones. Returning them would be at my expense. This was from the CS Manager, supposedly, and he would not let me speak with the main manager. I called again later, a different employee told me the wheels in +48 offset were out of stock, but they should get more in later. Shortly after that, the +48 option disappeared from their website like it had never existed. They never got more in, I never really believed that they ever would. It was just a typo on the website and they refused to admit their mistake. I would never, ever buy from them again, no matter what kind of deal they had.

I ended up mounting my tires and using the wheels, because I wasn't going to pay for sending them back. They seem like your average cheap wheel, kind of heavy, but the paint finish looks decent. I ran them for a few months, no real problems in that short amount of time. They are off now for the winter, hopefully they don't cause my wheel bearings to wear out faster when they go back on in the spring.

^ Cool, thanks for the info.

Honestly, I really like how the wheels look and can't find them anywhere else... wheelmax is the only place that sells them...

I would gladly get them somewhere else, even a similar style, even pay more, but I can't find anything close.

They look like:

Everything else in this style either has a huge lip or rivets everywhere.

Is there any way to double check the offset on the wheels before I buy?

I wish there was. I figured calling the place that was selling them would have been enough, but you see how that turned out. I searched and couldn't find an actual website for Exel, everything just directs you to the Wheelmax site. Similar to how Rage wheels are only sold at Discount Tire I guess, but at least those guys are intelligent enough to know what they are selling.

I checked exelwheels.com and there is no info on that site.

so calling wheel max doesn't do anything, guess that means it's a crapchute...

Would you have any idea how these would compare to rotas?

Rota seems a little better to me, although I've never owned a set. They are a bit pricier, but I think the peace of mind would be worth it. At least Rota has always taken care of their customers.

that's true, that only bad part about rotas is that i's hard find a set in 18x7.5 and everyone seems to be in short supply of silver?

suby_dude isn't expecting anything to come in any time soon...
