Default 95' Brighton Wagon

Hey all, brand new to the forums here and just wanted to introduce myself.

I just bought a 95' Brighton Wagon about a week ago..with 129k on the odo. Picked it up for 1300 bucks from a dealer. Seems to be pretty straight. Only problem I can see is that it has a rattle that seems to be coming from the exhaust. Doesn't seem to affect the car much except that it is VERY annoying. Anyways, it is green and I plan on tinting it and throwin some black rims on it. I'm new to subys and don't have much knowledge of them..however just from the week i've been driving this wagon..I think i'm in love.

So far i've replaced the rotors/brake pads..thrown a new air filter in(Fram for now..going to upgrade to K&N) changed the oil/oil filter. Put some new mats in and taken off the horrible hub caps.

I hope to add some performance parts in the future..nothing big..intake...exhaust and whatnot.

Glad to be here guys!

Welcome to the group.

While the Brighton was the cheaper no-frills car (No 4 wheel disk brakes, no ABS, no power windows, and no power side view mirrors), it was/is a much lighter car, and has less stuff to go wrong with it.

The exhaust rattle is rather common, and is likely a loose heat shield. It isnt all that annoying (IMHO) as long as you know what it is that is making the noise.

I'd say just the opposite. It's such a silly thing, and it causing such an annoying noise that makes your car sound like a POS.

Anyways, welcome to the forums! Sounds like a got a good deal on that Brighton.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me that much except for it does make the car sound like not running fine when it really is ya know? So..heat shield eh? Hope that's an easy fix, gonna look it up right now. Thanks

hey, i'm in the spanaway/tacoma area too!

what i usually do for the rattling heat shields is take some screws and screw it inbeteen the edge of the rattling heatshield and the one behind and that locks it in place and there is no more rattling, make sense? i'll try to take a pic of one tomorrow

believe me, rattling heat shields isn't just a legacy problem. had that exact same problem on my old civic, but it was SO much worse!

but yeah, that was a killer deal on the brighton. i paid what, $4500 for my L two years ago? even then i thought i was kinda getting shafted but so far the car has been completely issue free and a blast to drive, so how much is that worth? compare that to my "reliable" civic, where we had to replace the battery three times in the first four years we owned it. not to mention all the radiator failures!
