Default Anybody have any problems with Pomton Lakes PD?

First off I have NEVER gotten a ticket or anything, and I have NEVER had problems with the police until recently (3 in total), and they were all minor. But I have had two run ins with pompton lakes PD within a month

Last night they blocked off the road my GF lives on and her driveway was 5 feet from where the cones were. I followed the detours and ended up going in a big circle and couldn't figure how to get to on her street. So I figure that I'll ask the cops who are working the scene. I roll/idle (less than 5 MPH) and go around the road closed sign and up to the cops. The cop puts his arms up in disgust and approaches me. I told him where I had to go and he's like "this road is closed, you have to follow the detour with a tone as if I was too dumb to read the signs (eventhough they were doing road work on the other end of the street). I told him the detour is a big circle. He tells me if I follow the signs I'll end up where I have to go. Well, I do what he says and sure enough there was no detour signs other than the ones which bypassed her street altogether.

I park at my GF's and walk up to the cop and tell him that there are no detour signs or they are misplaced. He said, oh yeah we didn't put them up yet. Then I told him I really don't think it was appropiate to give me an attitude. He then threatens to give me a ticket for driving on a closed road (as if I went flying through the cones) if I didn't walk away. I then ask him for his name which he gave me then I asked him for his badge number (it was dark and he was in his car). He said if you can see it, you can have it. I tell him I can't see it, and he says "oh sorry, that's too bad and rolls his window up.

Seriously, I'm a vol. fire fighter, vol. for the Morris park police and I work for the county. It's not like I'm some punk kid, all I wanted was an apology for his attitude especially since he was incorrect. He would have diffused the situation up front if he just said "Can I help you?" when I first rolled up to hime. He was VERY unprofessional in my experience with police.

I was just curious if anyone else has had problem with this dept.

Thanks in advance and for reading

Steve

I live right next to pompton lakes and Ive never really had a problem with them(other than a ticket for 30 in a 25). Sometimes you just catch an officer in the wrong place at the wrong time. Everyone has a chance to have that happen.

I'm sure an apology would have changed things for you....I can't believe this is a problem. Stop whining about it and forget it, you didn't get a ticket so what's the big deal? Someone gave you an attitude, it happens.

I have taken multiple police courses through my job on how to talk to people, and usually an apology/starting off the correct way with someone will go a long way. Think about it; you roll up to a police officer and before any words are exchanged or he knows what's going on (for all he knew I could be anyone or wanted to report something) he throws his hands up and starts talking down to you. As opposed to "Can I help you?" and take it from there.

If you really wanted to report him, his car number and the time/date would've been enough. You could've also called the police station (NOT 911) and requested to speak with the shift supervisor. At this point, theres no point in whining about it.

I had a problem with one a few years ago...First off I can't parallel park...I was going to Nails2000 to get my nails done, so I park in the parking lot behind the chinese place. I'm finished and I'm pulling out onto wanaque ave cop comes out of the pizza place and starts walking across the street, bangs on the hood of my car and tells me pull over.

I was puzzled why he pulled me over. Turns out we I had a new car and we just transfered the plates and the sticker that we used to put on the license plates didn't match the one in the window so I was 6 months overdue for inspection. So he gave me a very expensive ticket.

I also had got a ticket with a Riverdale cop who got me doing 80 around the bend on 287 by the quarry.
