Default Portland Area WRX Club!

For the past 6 months or so, there has been a small, informal WRX club here in Portland. With the number of members on our maillist growing past 20, we have decided to make thinks a bit more public.

We have created a new home for our club at:
http://www.wrxworld.com

While we are primarily interested in WRX related things, we are of course open to anyone and everyone. We have been very active over the last 4 months, with more than 8 install days, plus 2 karting days. We have installed everything from Suspensions to Exhaust, New Turbos, Uppipes, and Electronics. We have also assembled a good collection of tools to help out with tuning (knocksensors, wideband AFs, Perfmeters, Dataloggers, etc). Our goal is to provide a local based club for people interested in learning more and working on their WRX!

Come check out our webpage, join the mail list, and come on over to one of the upcoming install days! (especially if you have some parts to install!)

I got a little frustrated signing up on that Yahoo host website,I'm not very good at computer usage .
I have 30 years of car/ motorcycle driving experience though.
I am glad I came across your post, as I am excited about my recent Subaru WRX purchase .

It's good to hear from you guys! The best part about being a local club, is the number of activities. We often plan things spur of the moment, so keep your eye on the maillist and website.

We are planning a Dyno day in late January, as well as more tuning sessions.

They were the HotBits Coilovers. The are pretty inexpensive (around $1100-$1200 I think), and they work great. Two other guys in the group (John and MikeB) also have them. As far as handling goes, they work great! MikeB had some problems with noise, but so far Adams have been very quiet, as long as your grease everything right during the install.

You can buy them locally at Altasport in Beaverton I believe.

That is a good idea, and I am going to post something to the mail list about an all hands gettogether soon. I'll post back here as well when we get something organized.

We will be having another install day this Saturday. Currently on the agenda:

Port Port Port. We will be porting as many throttle bodies as we have time for. We did Adams and JeffPs last week with great results.

HotBits squeak reduction testing. [trying Adams suggestion]
Trunk Swap (for James and Mike)
Exhaust Uninstall (my car, so JeffP can borrow it)
More VF-22/Unichip tuning and datalogging.

Anyone else? Last week we did a H&R lowering springs install in under 45mins!
We are shooting to get the Uppipe install down to 90 mins.. Any takers?

If you have something you would like to install, reply back to the list, or to me!

Time: Starting at 11:00am
Where: Jeff's House (http://www.sponaugle.com/map.htm)
Need more info, email jeff@sponaugle.com

This thread is 10 years old, necrobump of the year. I think the Adam and Jeff P that were mentioned are Jeff Perrin and Adam Taft of Perrin/Alta fame. The early days of R&D in Portland. This club is long gone, too bad.
