Hey been checking out the site for a while, recently became a member and figured I should introduce myself, gotta get started somewhere right. Well i am not currently an owner yet but asap. I am saving away right now and should have my WRX soon. Im from Vancouver, British Columbia. I'm currently leaning towards a 2002 or 2003 as they fit my price range but am debating spending the extra coin and going STI or not. The car will be my daily driver and commuter which my commute is sometimes around 80km daily for work. As far as performance I will probably leave the motor for a while before i begin but all my cars in the past have seem to have gotten modded so who knows. I have been reading gas mileage reviews on sites and their not corresponding with what users are saying so if someone could clear things up that would be awesome. I have heard averages all over from 12mpg to 27mpg so that would help because that is one of the things besides the coin to determine if i go with the STI or not. Gas mileage doesn't scare me to much though, im used to modded rx 7s so.
Thanks

For the STi...if you romp on it a lot, city driving figure on 15mpg. If you drive a little more normal, 18. Mostly highway about 23-24.
These days I average about 20 with a combination. welcome BTW |

Welcome to the boards. If I were in your shoes, I would go with an STi if it fits the budget. Since you said that you would keep it stock for a while, you will have more fun commuting in the STi since it's already a beast to begin with.
