Default Importing WRX engines

Has anyone bought an complete engine, driveline, ecu etc from Japan? I'm just curious as to where/how I can order an engine and what the costs would be like to get it shipped etc.. Any info would be appreciated. (if you know offhand of any prices of the engines or anything, please tell me) :P

I looked into it. It's actually safer as a consumer to buy the complete car and have it shipped here. Of course you can't use it but this ensures that you get a complete engine/drivetrain that works.

Budget about $6k for the car and $2k to have it shipped. This does not account for import and getting it from Vancouver to whereever you are. In general I think you can have a car carried anywhere in Canada for about $500.

What I'm looking for now is like a 1999-2000 RS coupe or a 2002 wrx (broken ones) so I can fix them up and use the savings to buy mods... ;p I was thinking of getting an engine but the cost seems prohibitive since you can basically buy the same power with mods locally and not have to deal with importing, taxes, duty etc.. freetrade my ass...... :P
