Default Dog the Bounty hunter uses the N-word? Really?!

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j..._xLLwD8SKKSK00

Quote:
HONOLULU (AP) — Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman apologized Wednesday for repeatedly using a racial slur in a profanity-laced tirade during a private phone conversation with his son that was recorded and posted online.
Talk about the media taking something out of context.

*Note. I do not use the n-word personally, but I don't see any reason there should be a flap over this in the news.

The radio was trying to compare this to the Imus "situation". This was clearly not an "on the air" thing. It was a phone conversation with his son that was recorded and released without his permission.

You're telling me that at all those expensive resorts, there are no niggardly people there?

Cause I bet someone's getting stiffed on tips somewhere on the island

How is it even legal for someone to release this? Most states have laws against this. Personally I find it distasteful that he would use such language, but what is said privately between 2 people should remain that way.

Those are my thoughts exactly. This shouldn't be news for the reasons it's getting attention.

Granted its a private conversation, but language like that is unacceptable.

Language like that happens everyday, everywhere, from every different person of color on the planet. The fact that Dog uses it is no surprize at all. Besides, did you even listen to the point he was trying to make, or did you just focus on the words you didn't like?

The issue here is that this was a private conversation.

If I were him or anyone in this type of situation I would go after every major network as well as trying to track down who is recording his phone calls and releasing them (He's a bounty hunter, it shouldn't be too hard).

Sue for invasion of privacy, defamation of character, ect...

I have no law background but this seems not only illegal but increadibly unethical for the media to do this to anyone, people represent themselves differently in public, especially on TV than at home. Regardless of how negative his actions may be in private, its not harming anyone and is being blown up like the noose halloween decoration thing because its a hot topic right now because of the media.

Haw. Rev. Stat. 803-42: Any wire, oral or electronic communication (including cellular phone calls) can lawfully be recorded by a person who is a party to the communication, or when one of the parties has consented to the recording, so long as no criminal or tortious purpose exists. Unlawful interceptions or disclosures of private communications are punishable as felonies.

The one-party consent rule does not apply, however, to the installation of a recording device in a "private place" that will amplify or broadcast conversations outside that private place. All parties who have a reasonable expectation of privacy in that place must consent to the installation of a recording device. Haw. Rev. Stat. 803-42(b)(3).

Civil penalties for unlawful interception or disclosure include the greater of actual damages or any profits made by the violator, $100 for each day of violation, or $10,000, along with punitive damages, attorney fees and litigation costs. Haw. Rev. Stat. 803-48. A hotel room has been found by the Hawaii Supreme Court to be a private place where a recording device cannot legally be installed without the consent of the room's occupants. Hawaii v. Lo, 675 P.2d 754 (Haw. 1983).

It is a felony to install or use a surveillance device in a private place to view a person in a "stage of undress or sexual activity" without the person's consent. Haw. Rev. Stat. 711-1110.9. It is a misdemeanor to possess materials obtained in this manner. If the person is not in such a stage, it is a misdemeanor. Haw. Rev. Stat. 711-1111.
Not really sure if this was actually illegal or not, but it seems to me that as one party is aware, it's OK.

From what I read his son was dating a african-hawiian and Dog was convenced that he was going to let the N-word out and she was going to go all race card on him and sue.

It was a call between Dog and his son and the son leaked it to get back at his dad and now has ****ed his family over.

Pineapple-Marshmellows anyone?

when will you learn:
"celebrities" don't exist. they are not real people.
they are brightly colored images beamed into your living room & onto your internets.
their "actions", "words", "ideas", "beliefs" have no effect on the real world.

if you ignore them, they will go away.
only to be replaced by another much like them.

Yeah, but he's a "celebrity." An H list celebrity at best but that means you make the news. If he doesn't like it he can give up his crap laden show and go civilian but then he'd have to earn a living.
