Default When do you normally put on your winter tires

It's getting kind of cold up here in NY and I was curious when do you folks normally put on your snow tires.

Already done. Did it early because I had to take the Subie down to Virginia to see my daughter. Summer tires are about shot and I didn't want to hydroplane at 80mph. Wait I meant 65. Usually around Turkey Day. RP

Put mine on last weekend. My summer/AX tires where halfway through the wear bars and we were getting a lot of rain. I figured an extra week or two of halfway decent grip (assuming perfect weather) with the winter tires was worth it considering the alternative of excellent grip and a wipeout on that one rainy/cold day.

November 15th, the first day that Studded tires are allowed in the state of Ohio.

They get taken off April 15th or so because of the same reason...

I put my winters on in mid December last year and I'm not sure when I will put them on this year. The summers are holding up great in the cold so maybe mid December again or when there is the first snow fall.

Usually around Thanksgiving (in preparation for ski season ), but I look at the forecast - once we get temperatures consistently below 45 deg F. Hopefully we have a real winter this year.

I put on the winter tires depending on how the roads to the Mountain are.

I'll be waiting till Dec. unless they call for snow before hand. It's still in the high 30's in the AM and up to 70's during the day.

Not until it snows in the valley or I plan on heading to a ski resort

Snows are such a drag after having fun, dedicated summer tires.

When the temps dip into the 40s on a regular basis, which it has been doing the last week or so. So I'll probably put them on this weekend... It's a good/bad thing...

I have 3 criteria for when I decide to put my snows on.. it's matter of which happens first:
1. Weekend after Thanksgiving/ last week of Nov.
2. Consistent temps in the 40s or below
3. Forecast calls for a sure chance of significant Snow/ Ice/ Sleet

I put mine on when it starts to snow on a regular basis. No reason to wear them down unnecessarily. My all-seasons can handle a few snowflakes.

Mine are going on tomorrow. Getting too cold for the Neova's. That's all I need to do is ruin those friggin' tires due to the temperature getting too low.
