Thumbs up Pence Auto Mall, Midlothian, VA (Richmond)

I just got back from ordering my Blue '02 Sedan w/spoiler only from Pence Auto Mall. I emailed about 10 dealerships in my area stating invoice for the car and options that i wanted and requesting their price. Bill Falon emailed me back with a price of $233 over invoice ($100 + $133 "processing fee"). I called and arranged for an appointment and drove down this morning to test drive a car and place an order. When i got there, the first thing Bill said to me after exchanging greetings was "ready to go drive a car?"

All in all I was pretty impressed. He didn't give me any **** for being young (i'm 23 and look it). He didn't try to convince me that i needed lots of options I don't want (he did offer me a blue sedan with spoiler, air filter, and arm rest that was coming next week if i didn't want to wait for an order). And most importantly, he didn't try to change the price on me once i got there.

So now i'm playing the waiting game till my order comes in. He told me he would call as soon as he heard anything, but encouraged me to call him and ask him "Is it there yet?"

I will let you know how it all turns out, but so far I am extremely pleased.

David

I picked up my WRX from him about 15 days ago. You won't be sorry everything was just perfect in and out in about 90 min.

Default Yeah they kick ass.

I bought my WRX there in Aug. I wanted slushbox since I drive 1 hour to work everyday through downtown richmond. They had one when I got there.. in white... with a PINSTRIPE!!! Ugh! After talking to the salesman, they brought me around back and I saw my baby: a sedona red pearl auto with 14K miles on it. It was the demo car and only driven by a distributer. the interior was perfect.. the exterioir was perfect. They dropped the price to 4000 bucks below invoice, and for another 1000 I got a bumper to bumper warranty up till 100,000 miles. This car was the first Red WRX on the east coast. I only saw anoter red one a few months ago. Of course they have been around since I bought it, but very rare. I'm only 21. They gave me no crap, they were pretty straightforward.

It's not the sales team that makes me leave this post, but rather the Service team. Never a long wait for anything, and they are VERY helpful and definately straightforward about everythign. I had them install my Denzo plugs.. in and out in a few hours. They don't give me crap about my CAI, or any other mods. Talk to Chris.. he'll hook you up.

They be da man!

Old thread, but I wanted to thank you guys for this feedback. My friend Will who lives in Richmond and bought a brand new '05 Legacy 2.5GT from there last year, recommended this dealer and more specifically Bill Fallon to me. I've had a conversation with him over the phone thus far and he was extremely nice and gave me a competitve price on an '06 WRX TR. Even though I've a dealer in Northern VA that'll sell me a similar car for $100 less, I'm going with Bill @ Pence Auto. Should be in my car in the next 3 weeks!!!

Update: I ended up buying a brand new '06 WRX TR in late January, and the last 3+ months have been bliss. My wife and I spent about a total of 1/2 hour to fill out paper work and finish up with the finance & warrnty guys. Once that was over, I took her shopping for 30 minutes while my car was bing prepped for delivery. Great buying experience and Bill Fallon is an A++++ sales guy. He'll have definitely get my business again in the future...

I have nothing good to say about Pence, I was going to buy my 2011 from them until the service department got in a pissing match with me and I had to call Subaru HQ to resolve the issue with them. I still have the email that states Pence longer wishes to have me as a customer. All over a $90 unauthorized charge. If they would of just picked up the phone and told me what they were doing first it would of saved this issue from being blown out of proportion. Either way I got the charged waived then they entered my milage in wrong and I had to file a BBB complaint to get that issue fixed because it screwed up my carfax report stating the milage couldn't be verified. That's a devistating mark on a 2008 WRX with only 14K miles.

I just wanted to add my review of Pence Service Dept.

I have had another great experience. I took my 07 Legacy in to replace the timing belt, tensioner and drive belts. I work in the automotive industry for another dealership(toyota) and normally perform some maintenance myself. Anything I am not familiar with or do not trust anyone else with it, I go to Pence. I purchased the parts from Pence as their parts dept offer a Nasioc discount which came out just as cheap if not cheaper than most online vendors and they had them in stock! Don and Gary were great to work with as was James the Service Manager. Work was completed ahead of schedule and pricing was great. In fact, it came out less than what I quoted.

I prefer the technicians Steve or Will at Pence to work on my vehicle. That speaks volumes about their service dept. Again, another great service experience.
