Prices around my area go up 1 penny every day. Super is 3.42 today at Chevron. When will you stop driving?

My fuel expenses are a fraction of the majority, but I work in the auto industry and if everyone stops driving I will loose my job

Seeing how my area has no public transportation system set up, and I live a good 10 minute drive from stores, work and school I'm at the mercy of the oil prices.

I would/will car pool if I'm able to.

If gas were to go above $5 a gallon, I'd be more likely to sell my WRX and get something more economical. I'd avoid having to pick up a new car payment though, it's been nice not having one the last few years.

wow 3.42 is damn high. if it reaches 5 bucks i would stop driving period. i already drive as little as possible. if i absolutely had to for commuting to work, it would only be in a hybrid or some small car with 35+ mpg.

I won't stop driving any time soon. Public transportation is an option, although a poor one around here. If gas prices go up that much people will start expecting some serious improvement in public transportation all over the country because outside major metro areas it sucks or doesn't even exist and driving is all but a necessity now.

I will slow my driving progressively as the price goes up, but sometimes you just NEED to drive...

I actually stored my car and bought a scooter because of prices currently.

I cut way back around the $2.00 mark ($2.99 here today) but I'm a bicyclist and live in one of the most bike friendly cities in the country...

I'm paying the equivalent of $6.06 a gallon. I already stopped driving to work, at least the buses and trains are clean and on time here.

Considering that I have a 4 mile round trip commute, I'd say about $20/gallon or so. I only burn 6 gallons in a 30 mile trip on the boat, too.

How high will your electric bill go before you stop wasting energy on t3h OT? Get serious.

I also pedal to work, and pretty much everywhere else if possible. I'm at college, though, so I'm sure my car usage rates will go up substantially once I start work after colllege.

15$? I like a block away from my office. Any driving I do is purely recreational/groceries.

if gas hit 60/gallon the wife would prolly have to stop driving to work. before then its just a matter of scaling back more and more. Wife has no option but to commute 76 miles a day to work, I take the train but live about 4 miles from the train station. It is also about 4 miles to any shopping as well.

Screw gas prices, I'll drive at any price. I'm more worried about heating oil for the house

Nobody is going to STOP driving. Price for super plus (93ish octane) in Germany is around $7.71/gal. Drive less, buy more fuel efficient vehicles, of course, but stop driving, no.

Considering I drive every day to/from work (about 12 miles round trip) and around town on the weekends, and still manage to go a whole month on $20 in gas (average price $2.80/gallon), gas prices would have to get pretty damn high for me to stop driving.

At $5.00 per gallon it would still cost me less than $50 to fill up. Fifty bucks per month in gas? I can manage that. I'd be laughing at all the poor suckers "who have to drive cars with some power" or pickups/SUVs.

With oil at $94 per barrel right now, things are going to get very interesting next March-May.

My scooter gets 75+ MPG, I ride it until there is ice or snow. My car sat for over seven weeks this summer.

I drive about 5 miles to work, what the gas prices will do is make my consolidate my errands better so that I only head out once and get a lot more done in that single trip. I'd ride a bike, but I work graves and nearly 12 hour shifts, biking up hill is the last thing I want to do in the morning.
