Getting tint this week for my 2004 WRX Wagon. I want legal limit of 35%, but after seeing 35% on some vehicles already I'm wondering if I might want it darker? 30% maybe? 25% would probably be my limit.

So, what have you got, do you like it, and have the cops ever hassled you for it? I'd love to see some pics!

Is there anything unique out there I should consider, such as reflective or 'graduation' type tinting? I've got Java Black Pearl paint and am kinda thinking that the black interior/exterior will help make the 35% tints look darker, but I might be way off on this.

I have 18% on all the rears. 35% on the front windows. I've never been hassled, and I probably never will. There are SUV's rooling around with tint darker than that.

The wheel gap is actually less, but I'm cornering hard

With the dark and most times rainy weather up here, how difficult is it to see through 18% tint when backing up or looking over your shoulder to change lanes??

It's not too bad. It's no worse than my g/f's trailblazer.

I had 16% all around on my GTI. I just sold it, but i bought it that way and drove it like that for a year.
I was iffy at first, always rolling down my windows when I saw a cop, then got tired of that after 3 months.
I never got hassled about it for the rest of my ownership.

(Silver mirror caps were an experiment, a bad one)

At times it looked lighter

35% on all 5 glass. I think it's perfect for Washington weather.

I didn't want the darker back glass

I have 20% reflective all around. It isn't bad at all driving in the rain or at night. I haven't been hassled in three years. (knock on wood) Sorry these are the only side shots I could find.

Here is a crappy picture looking out of the car.

20% all around

also 20%

I've never been hassled in the wagon, but I got pulled over once in the sti. It was in Tigard by pdxtuning, but since I have WA plates, the cop said he thought WA had different tint laws and let me go.

My .02, had a mazda truck 12 years 20% sides, 5% rear. A dodge dakota 5 years 20% all around, now an 06 STI 20% and a mazda speed6 20% all around. Never been mentioned by the cops but backing in foul weather/dark isnt easy. The darker your body color the lighter your tint looks from outside.

Hmm this is nice especially since I'm going to be getting mine done here soon as well. I'm thinking of 35% on the doors and 18% on the rear quarters and hatch.

20% on the four doors, and 15% on the three hatch windows. Though this pic is a little misleading.
I've been ticketed for other things a few times, but not one officer mentioned the tint.

I have 5% all around. If you get light tint, get dark in the back for sure. If not, you will be frustrated how easily people can see in. I guess i can't speak for you, but this was the reaction of a few people i know.
Oh yeah..never been hassled..i used to have 15 and i was never hassled for that either.

I have 20% all around, got "talked" to once about it. I just played dumb "dark colored car just made the tint look darker" that was coming from an sheriff and he saw it at night.

I have 20% on both of my cars. I've been hassled once or twice about it but never a ticket.

Renton PD has tint meters BTW.

Some cars the natural tint of the window will also make it darker. I got 35% on the Honda we used to own, the windows didn't look like there was any tint at all.
