Default Aftermarket or custom grill for first gen legacy

I am pretty sure there isn't anything out there, but I figured I'd ask. I have searched through the legacy forum, gotten some ideas of how some of the different aftermarket grills look like, as well as some custom ones. HIHO, I like what you've done with yours, I found two sets of pics, ones with the mesh and ones without. How was it workin with the plastic on the grill?

I'm still not sure how I want the grill laid out, colors, mesh, etc. I do like the mesh look, but not sure exactly what would look best.

Here are some pics of my grill.

If anyone has any suggestions on what my look best, holler.

Thanks

Josh

josh, i have about the same car and i meshed my grille out and let me tell you it made a big difference. looks tight as hell... as soon as i figure out how to put up pics. i'll post the before and after. all i did to mesh mine was to cut out all the middle plastic with a dremel tool and then i just cut the mesh to fit the hole with some over hang in the back, laid it down and hot glued it on. it's going on probably about 6 months now and it's still holding on strong as ever. i'll post pics i promise

SWEET!

I wanna see Did you paint anything any different colors. I really need to repaint my grill....it's fading and looking kinda ****ty. But I'm not sure if I should stay with the color it is, or paint it color of the car.

Thanks

Josh

I have seen some grills included with kits for the earlier Legacy. I would suggest doing a search on Google for "Legacy and Grill". I think Liberal, Hippo Sleek or Prova may have grills for your car. You may also want to contact Accurate Performance, as he is a great source for finding and getting Japanese parts. Good luck!

Does Accurate Performance on here, or have website/email?

I'll do some snoopin on google tonight. I have looked around on provo's japan site, and they have very limited stuff for the BC-BF Legacy, and really no pics.

Yes, Accurate Performance is on i-club. Do a search and you will find his latest posts in the Legacy Forum. He does have an email address but I don't think his Web site is finished yet.

This looks like crap but maybe it can give you an idea. I found that if you take a light grit sand paper and sand the chrome plastic stuff arounf the grill it gives it the apperance of brushed aluminum.

Thanks Jacob, I'll do a search

Thanks HIHO, yeah that does help give an idea of what the mesh would look like. I don't think I have any chrom really on mine. It's painted a dark gray metallic color on the inner ribs, and the outer is lighter gray.

I do like the idea of getting rid of the inner ribs and replacing with mesh, I'm just not sure what would look best with the color of the outer pieces, light gray, that darker gray, or color of the car. Where'd you get your mesh? I'm assumin they have a darker and lighter color mesh wouldn't they?

I may just have to take the grill off one day and just go at it, and play with it till I get something I like.

Thanks guys.....onward with the grill search

Josh

Well, google wasn't too successful, neither was provo, liberal, or hippo sleek. I emailed accurit performance, we'll see if he has any leads.

This is pretty much the only pic I've found of a mesh type grill for the first gen legacies, and it's different then mine. In 92, the hood line got straightened and shortened, so I wouldn't even think that grill would fit

Looks like I'm just goin to have to custom do one

Yeah I really like how the mesh was done on that one.

I did find a closer pic of my grill. If you look at the two, there is more material on the side on his, then mine.

josh, the grille on the blue sub you have posted up there is pretty much how mine turned out. the mesh is aluminum i think and doesn't rust or anything. also i did paint my badge red. looks good on a black car. i still plan to do the lower bumper part like on the above blue sub picture also. that proves to be a bit more involved though and will have to wait until better weather gets here. with the grille it's not so bad cause you can snap it off and then back on and don't have to freeze your but off out in the driveway. course it is 50 degrees out right now. kinda odd for PA. in january.

oh, one more thing. do i have to put my pictures up in some online acount or something(like yahoo or something maybe) so i can put a link to them or what?

Send me the pic, I'll throw it on my server, give you the link, and then you can post the image.
