Question Bov?

anyone using any type off aftermarket BOV that vents to the air :
are you guys having any problems with them? do they sputter or get stuck open? will they still vent even though you shift at 3000 rpm? and have they affected the driveability of your WRX?
i'm considering the turboXS RFL , forge BOV, or the turboXS type-H. how do your BOVs sound?? thanx for your time.

sorry for all the questions, i just want to get some information before i buy one.

i have the turboxs type-h bov...installed by the people of www.akautocear.com ...i haven't had any problems with mine so far. it only sputters if i shift before the turbo has spooled enough to really open the valve...if there isn't enough pressure then it's not really gonna vent...as for driveability, it's about the same...most of the time ur driving to build the pressure so when u shift u get a nice pssstt... does that answer any of ur questions?

You're not going to make it! The meet is giong to be the best place to hear all the different types of BOVs. Plus, you'll get everyones opinions on their BOVs.

I have the GFB BOV. It's been in the car for a couple months now. I haven't had any problems with sticking or sputtering. 3000 is kind of low to be producing any noticeable boost blow off. I haven't noticed any difference in the driveability except for the fun factor. My car makes so many different noises that I haven't driven with the radio on in a couple days. Love all the sounds. The Forge and the RFL have similar sounds except the RFL is really loud. Louder than the standard type-H.

You'll just have to make it to the meet and listen to all of them. Ofrder has the forge, AK-WRX has a type-H, Ilir has a RFL, and a number of us have GFBs.

Chris is planning on coming over to my place Wednesday night at 6pm so we can put his bushings in, so if you want to meet up there after 6pm that is cool with me.

Maybe we can get Winslow to stop by too, so you can hear a GFB BOV.

If you need instructions or anything let me know.

later....Kris

Talking Mini-meet

Sounds good. I have another Suby owner with a 98 Green RS coming over that night too. So it sounds like we will have a mini-meet. Not until 6pm though

hopefully i'll get back in town on time so i can make it to the meet. So far i have only heard the RFL and Forge. I really like the way the RFL sounds, it even has a slight whistle/ringing noise after it blows off. The forge one i just heard a quick pshhh. I have yet to hear a GFB in person i'll try really hard to make it to the meet!! it seems like this one is going to be really big!!
watch, sears calls the police cause they think we are organizing a race or something because of all the WRXs in the parking lot

Can I come too? I have a GFB BOV. I had to get it modified since the install because the 50% vent was way too quiet. I can get rid of some Fuba replica antennas.

Robert,
Do you really have bushings you need to put into your car? If so we might be able do it that night, but we will have to see how it goes.

Everyone's going to be at Kris' house tomorrow night to hear BOVs and do mods. Ben lives right down the street and always has it open to mods. I'm sure if we ask he'll let us do the bushings there too. Bushings take 15 minutes. Please try to stay on-topic. These threads get cluttered with off-topic conversations. At least post something about the thread posters question. Winslow

Just please do not pull up and start revving hard and blowing off your BOV's.

I try to keep things on the DL as much as possible, so as not to annoy the neighbors just yet.

Isn't that a personal question?

But I will answer it for him, no he did not put any spacers in, he likes his "phoosh" just like it is....
