Post Aftermarket Radiator for swapped cars

i know this topic has been partially covered. but i wanted to know if there is anyone who has done this:

put a aftermarket radiator like a koyo with push style flex a lite slim fans
so the fans are sitting between the a/c condenser and radiator.

i know that if i get the pull style fans it will be a very tight fit between the motor and fans but it will fit. but having the fans sitting that close to the motor makes me feel a little uneasy.

thanks.

hmmm i found some conflicting information about the radiator.
the link on that page says its the same size as the GC and WRX one.
but on another site it says it is 36mm(R1819) vs 53mm(R2218).
so im not sure which is true.

if it is only 36mm is that enough of an upgrade for track? i have a stock RS radiator but i was thinking about either going with an aftermarket one such as the koyo or just getting an STI radiator.

i think the stock rs/L radiator is up to the task and the R1819 (which is the right part for a DOHC GC) is 2x as thick

you would have to use a push fan with the r2218

we were able to use a pull fan with the R2218 but the fitment was so close it made me feel uncomfortable.

i'll look into the R1819 a little more. or i might just settle for a STi radiator since its much cheaper.

a buddy of mine swapped in a jdm sti (not sure what version) motor into his 99rs and put in a koyo radiator. he doesn't even use fans. he drives the car every day and the only time its ever overheated was in stop and go traffic on a 90 degree day.

I put the 2218 in my 99RS w/ V4 swap. I am running two 12" electric pull fans mounted to the inside and I have no clearance issues. Fans were from Advance auto
