Default Need help picking out tires!!!!!!!!

Hey whats up, I was wondering if somebody could steer me in the right direction for tires, I have a 05 RS, and I currently have 17's on them, with Hankooks 225/45's, I was looking for a descent summer/rain tire for my car, nothing too expensive if I can try to keep the cost down, it would be better, any ideas? Or good places to shop around?

1st, go with the OE size for those wheels, 215/45/17, 2nd, click on the tirerack link above and discover and educate yourself between their offerings.

Good tire. This is what my bro runs on his FXT. Good performance dry stick and great wet stick. It's quiet and durable too.

hey man take it easy, i just heard good things about those dunlops from other subaru owners who autocross. i was happy with my hankooks which i had spent 120 a tire on 2 summers ago.

and yes i do have bigger problems, im 21 in college, and trying too get myself through it on my own. i pay my own **** and my own bills, i go to school full time and i cant work that many hours, so ya i cant really afford 90 a tire, i have a budget to work with if i wanna pay my damn rent and school bills. so give me a damn break.

+1 for these. For about the same money as some lesser tires they should perform as well as the big names. I have some sitting in my garage now waiting to be mounted.

I have an 06 wrx with stock rims. The tire size is oe 215/45/17. Will 225/45/17 fit these rims or is it not a good idea to put that size on ?

good for you!
hopefully when you're done you'll get a great job and scoff at the thought of not being able to afford tires.

do you still have your original wheels??

or just the 17's?

I'd suggest you peruse the classifieds here, and maybe pick up a set of take-offs.

I use RE92's as winter tires.. I pick them up for <200 / set in 17"

yeah, they aren't the greatest tire.. but way better than how people portray them... (you know the people who can't drive)

I picked up a set of 4K miles RE070's last night from a local for $250. so deals are out there.

d00000d you are being retarded... and seriously.. need to chill out... esp when getting even remotely close to calling someone like me a "****" up

Just because you are a grizzled old man doesn't give you right to do some of your b1tching and moaning. I don't know how you get away with some of it!!! and out of respect for what postive things I've seen you contribute, I'll keep it at that... publically.

I specifically said "the new Direzza"

you know the Direzza Z1 NOT the older Z101.

and ofcourse the Direzza is a line of tires..

just like the Ventus, Potenza, advan, etc.

you're the one who mentioned "duncraps" which is, as we all know the BRAND.

dude.. seriously, chill!!

thanks buddy. umm i still have my stock 16 inch rims and tires, but there in wisconsin and i live in florida, so i wanted to buy some new tires for the 17s i have right now, figuring it would nearly be as much to ship my stockers down here as it would to basically buy a new set of tires. but i figured it out, and got my bro to ship me down my stockers at a good price from his work through company shipping, so it worked out, ill save up some money and by spring time ill have my 17s back on! im gonna miss them though, there oz racing ultraleggra like a gunmetal color, beautiful rim!

Got a set a these last spring and enjoyed a full summer season on them already. I was plesantly surprised with their performance-to-cost ratio, and they have a pretty good treadwear rating as well.

I am a big fan oh Kumho's as well. I had a set of Supra 712's and they were GREAT all around tires. Even had to use them in the snow a little.

I would look into buying a used set if price is a big concern. Especially now that most people are thinking of winter tires, you may be able to find a deal on "summer" tires.

Let's try to stay on topic guys, take your beef to OT.

you want summer or all season? you mentioned rain. It may not be in your price range, but for what its worth I got Nitto NT450 on my stock wrx wheels. I got them for a reasonable price (~100 per, but may be lower elsewhere). Mind you thats for 16" but i believe tire price all depends a lot on how common the size is. The more obscure the size the more $$. Anyway, I've got about 30K miles on these guys and I gotta say I have been more than satisfied with their performance. I can only imagine how they would handle in a 17" version, not to mention the fact that I still have decent treadlife left (with religious rotation that is).

General UHP Exclaims are pretty good if they have a size you want.

If you can swing a few more $'s, I'd definitely consider these the Falken FK-452.

d0000000d.

Try Kumho Ecsta SPTs. Cheap and much better than Dunlops.
