Default Ideal offset and rim width for 2.5 TS?

i want to get some rims in the near future for my TS... maybe 16's or 17's, haven't decided yet

i'm new to subaru's, i was just wondering if someone could clarify the best offset + width?

thanks.

Search for widest wheels on a wagon or something like that.

Most people will tell you that 225 width tires are as wide as you can run without other modifications (rolled fenders/ massive camber etc). 225 width tires can be mounted on a 7-8" rim, but the wider you go, the heavier you get. I would look into some 7 or 7.5" rims. As far as diameter the larger the heavier (unless you want to spend a lot on nice rims). Running 16's will be lighter, but using 17's will open up a LOT more tire choices.

Stock offset is 53mm, try to stay within a few mm's of that.

I am about to put some old RS wheels (16x7) with 225-45-16 tires on my wagon. This will be my first upgrade from the stock tire size, so all of my info I have heard second-hand, but there is a wagon suspension thread, talks mostly about lowering problems, but its good to know.

See the other threads up right now, some are saying 235 width will work as well, that would be cool! I am staying 225 for AutoX classing.

There really isn't a good reason to go with an 8" wide wheel if you are going to use 215 treadwitdh. The extra width will add weight so you might as well go with wider tires to get added grip. If you want 215 or 225 treadwitdh you can easily use a 7".

I guess to answer your question more directly, it is the size of the tires matter more in terms of fitment, but that doesn't mean you can run 10" wheel either.

Before you decide on a tire/wheel combo, define your goals first:

1. Budget
2. Performance goal (track, street, AutoX, rally, etc..)
3. Or do you just want a set of tires and wheels that LOOK really good. A lot of people might bash you for just wanting "bling", but hey its your car and if you want ultra low-profile tires on some chrome rims, go for it.

Then see what other have fit on their wagons: You will find that people are running a range of tire sizes on a range of wheel sizes, and that it is dependent on many factors including your suspension setup.

no i don't want bling... haha.. wedsport makes a really nice bronze wheel that only comes in 8", no lower

but i'm worried about 8" with 225's rubbing on the TS
