Default I went shooting yesterday and brought the camera. And did something dumb. Real Dumb.

00 buckshot!

It was her first time ever shooting a gun. Good times. Also, I need a longer stock for the AK. I always knew it was too small for me, but looking at it in the photos is ridiculous.

So the dumb thing I did... I had a can of pepsi with me. I had not opened it. I took it with me to check our targets and dropped it. Not wanting to open it and get sprayed, I left it there. I then decided to shoot it from about 50 yards out. I nailed it. The can exploded obviously. But when I say exploded, i mean blew the **** up. Shrapnel flew over my head! I am an idiot. I suck. My bad. Never again shooting a full can.

I feel like an ******* for inadvertedly using poor gun safety. You are allowed to shoot stuff (people shoot computers all the time there) but I didn't think through shooting a can.

Dude, it was her first time with a gun of any kind, even a BB gun. The fact that we had her hitting the target at all at 50yards out with iron sights was pretty impressive. Any farther than that and I think it would have been unfair to her and potentially irresponsible. Yes, I smoked the can first shot, and yes I could have hit it farther away I'm sure.

How can you not smoke while wearing such a sweet shotgun shooting outfit. The cigarette was just for the pictures.

The cigarettes after that were for my lungs.

grant - smokes with drinking, which is a lot (just not with guns)

i was referring to the shrapnel from 50 yards... 50 yards seems decently safe.

oh! my bad. OT has a lot of gun fans that are like "I can hit a bottle cap with a slingshot from 500yrds...while moving."

Yeah, I definitely felt 50 yards was safe. It was thoroughly impressive. And dumb. And super ****ing sweet.

You should always wear eye protection when shooting.

try to bring your right foot more forward next time if you feel like the stock is not long enough.

Ive seen some pics of how guys shoot their ar15s and they almost have both feet side by side. I dont go that extreme but I guess thats the only way to shoot the rifle if you have the stock fully collapsed.
