Default Stalling in reverse and rough in reverse...

Ok. This has happened to me 3 times today so I thought I would see what you guys think. I have been having a lot of troube in reverse gear. A couple of times it has made really horrid grinding noises when I have put in in reverse (worse than the normal little noise). And just today I stalled it 3 times in reverse. THe first time I put it in reverse and let the clutch out slowly like I always do they front of the car started to shake really badly then it stalled. I figured I just screwed up. Then today when I got home I put it in reverse and as soon as I started to let the clutch out the car shook a lot and stalled. I started the car again and it did the same thing, stall. Started it yet again and it almost stalled but I managed to work the clutch so that it didnt.

Any ideas? This sounds an awfully lot like a clutch, not to mention the other problems I have with the clutch. Shutter, makes some funny cluck on engagement and disengagement, an awful noise on decel in third.

Gas is your friend (for once, hehehe). Check if it is actually a clutch problem by gassing it up to about 2K then ride the clutch. Not necessarily good for the thing, but if you suspect it is a problem, there's no harm, right? Also, check if you have the shifter COMPLETELY in the gate. Sometimes it only likes to go in half way, then I gotta jam it all the way in. What I find helps is if you put the car into 2nd, then into reverse. Don't know why that helps so much, but it works for me.

usually if you get the loud, grinding type sound, the shifter isn't all the way in the gate. It will vibrate severely when you try to move and you wont actually move.

Shift to neutral, then to first. Then shift from first to reverse in one smooth motion if you can. This will usually work.

I am pretty sure in all circumstances that the shifter was all the way in the gate. The grinding noises its made wasnt when I engaged the clutch it was with the clutch all the way in and right when I put it in reverse and it wasnt the type of grind noise when you dont have the clutch in all the way. It was just a really loud grind, normally when a gear grinds you feel the vibration in the stick but there wasnt any vibration just the noise.

And when the car stalled the second time lastnight basically I just reved it to about 2k and rode the clutch. =(

I have been paying more attention to first gear and such since last night and it seems like anything that is from a stop is really rough / hard for the car. So bascially first is a little rough (not as bas as reverse was) and reverse is really rough / stalls on occasion. When it has stalled the clutch wasnt out hardly at all, it was at the very begning of engagement and the car just vibrated and stalled pretty much instantly when it hit the begnining of the engagement area.
