Default I'm on the fence: RENEW subscription or not

I got a "your last subscription issue is on it's way, please renew" letters.

I'm on the fence with this one. Don't get me wrong, SubieSport is a nice mag an all, but comparitively speaking I'm finding my other subscriptions to have more depth:

- Grassroots Motorsports: much more in depth tech as it applies to racing/high performance driving, still covers rally,
- Road & Track: mainstream car news and EARLIEST first drives, sneak previews, reviews, etc.
- Sports Compact Car: Although 80% of this mag is drivel, there are about 3 issues a year that have articles that are worth it; stuff like "breaking down the 08 impreza suspension" and Ultimate Street Car competion.

As for SubieSport, I appreciate the dedication to the Subie. I'm disappointed in the lack of depth in many of the articles. For example, the 08 WRX article was nice and *started* to touch on in depth stuff but stopped short after just mentioning them.

Since I scour NASIOC so frequently, I find lots of info here I wish Subiesport would cover. Things like:

- Wheel offset... the positive/negative effects of straying for stock ET55; get expert advice on offset effect on wheel bearing wear, track width, clearance issues, etc
- Aftermarket strut options for wagon owners; install issues and options for getting your negative camber back and pros/cons (ie koni not good for rallyx)
- ALK side by side comparison (wrx, forrester, groupn, Whiteline, Perrin, GTspec)
- 3 specific application examples of determining stroke, travel, roll center, etc
- front strut towers: do they really move enough to make a strut bar useful? (obtain equipment which measure displacement of the towers during load applications)
- groupn bushing installs
- DIY brake cooling ducts
- COBB AP long term tests
- how to protune

This is all stuff that are discussed ad naseum on NASIOC but lack funding to do the scientific experimentation and the connection to "expert" advise. And while there are gems of info on NASIOC, you have to weed through a lot of muck and abuse to get there. The value of a car magazine is someone has waded through the muck, done their homework, and presented info they believe is accurate as cleanly as they can.

Other ideas:
- putting SPT parts to the test, and compare to equivalent aftermarket parts

If someone could do that, I'd pay $50 a year for 6 issues. But I'll have to leave it to them to make a good business model out of it.

EDIT: I renewed my subscription

i thought the same thing. the mag comes across as a lets put our friends wrx in a magazine.no real technical stuff. it could be a great mag, but the lack of technical articles kills it,and no which spring ,or which cold air intake is not technical. i say for good info buy some of the tuner mags half the price and 12 issues.

Did you miss our articles on turbo tech, water injection and nitrous? Those were very in depth and we have even more planned.

I guess it goes to show how hard it is to please everyone. Carbon fiber and visual things are the farthest from what I want on my car.

Visual to me is my "baby on board" sign in the rear.

i am not a visual guy either ,but the majority is. like i said 500+ whp in my 03 built 2.5l wrx and oem front and rear skirts with egr sides is it for me . anything else and it will fly off. alot of people just do stg 2 and stg 3 wrx mods do some stories ,and comparisons with utec ,ecutek, and cobb not everyone goes overboard and spend 35000 on upgrades. good luck
