Default WRX Wagon With Leather Seats

Last Sunday, I was at Office Depot in Berkeley buying a straight edge cutter, I saw a 02 Silver WRX Wagon with leather seats. Are the WRX's being sold now getting a leather option package?

I think some of the dealers are doing it themselves. I saw one at Stevens Creek (I only test drove one there, I was rightly informed to never buy from them) and they had done it. They had also put in a sun-roof. I don't think I would trust an aftermarket one to not leak.

carlsen does it. They will send out your seats and have it done for about $1100.

or there was a group buy for leather seats and you just install it yourself. I think leather and a sunroof will be factory options soon.

Exclamation pics!

the thread below has pictures of my leather interior. I had it installed through the dealer by a company called Classic Soft Trim. It is in fact a vinyl/leather combination but looks very good in my opinion.
However, if I had to do it over again I think I would have gone with Wet Okele seat covers (I think that is how you spell it).

Stanley -

Your setup looks great. Does the leather bind up when you fold the back seats down and return them into the upright position?

Nice!

Funny you should mention that - the leather does not bind up when folding down the rear seats at all. However, the first time I took the car to Monterrey for a scuba trip I ripped the seam that connects the leather to the cloth behind the seat by dragging a 30# lead belt over it!
I called Classic Soft Trim, and told them the seam had ripped. With no further questions they sent a guy out that day to my parking garage, removed the rear seats, and returned them the next day. Not only were they repaired, they changed the seam from glue to a stitched zipper.
Time will ultimately tell as to the durability of their job, but customer service is top notch.

I had classic soft trim in my last car as the leather option and it wasn't the that good. the leather after awhile looked worn on the butt area. and it looked dry everywhere else. This is after only two years. keep an eye on it and hope yours turn out better.

Do these leather coversions still hold the side-impact air bags?

Side air bags - yes.

En3d - Did you condition your seats? I've been using Lexol since I had the interior (about every 6 weeks or so) and mine look new after 9 months of use. It is DEFINITELY not the best quality leather though. However, it's also a lot cheaper than putting leather in your new 330xi.
