Default Calgary dealer service

Subaru has a reputation for spotty dealer service. Any experience s with the two in Calgary?

I have only been to Centaur for oil changes. I have to experience with Subaru of Calgary. So, on that basis, I can't say they have ever treated me bad. Since its just an oil change, I suppose they can't screw up too bad. Although they did knock loose one of my little oil hoses on the side (dunno what it does but little oil got out - a little messy). Fortunately I found it after only the short drive home and attached it again.

I have had nothing but good experiences so far with Subaru of Calgary so far, they've bent over backwards on several occasions to try and get the car back on the road fast as possible.

The guys @ Subaru of Calgary are great. Excellent service as well as they have the top Subaru tech in W.Canada there. Fast, friendly service always.

I've had nothing short of extraordinary service from Centaur. I got the same impression from S. of Calgary but they were further away from my pad. Now the service at Subaru City is sub-standard, but they're all I've got for warranty work.

Thanks for all the replies. I might get an Impreza next year, but have heard that while an overall solid reliable car - almost like a Toyota or Honda - it will occaisionally have a weak tranny, and a few minor problems: power windows, CEL, ABS. And the dealerships are known to provide "spotty service" according to Lemon-Aid. Anybody have those kind of problems in Calgary, especially the tranny, and how was it resolved?

I've had extensive issues with my 2000 rs (new clutch, rebuilt 1st gear synchro, new rear struts, new timing belt and cam belt tensioners, various rattles), most of which has been done at centaur subaru. That is not to say I like centaur subaru - as a matter of fact, I have decided not to return, despite the volume of work they have done for me. The service people are generally rude, misinformed, and act as if they are being inconvienced for having to diagnose and repair problems with the car. They're also hard of hearing - they've never been able to fix the various rattles my car has, despite their claims of having fixed them. I'm just tired of dealing with centaur.
I'm now able to go to subaru of calgary (which is always booked up one or two weeks in advance vs centaur where you can call the day before, does that tell you something), my limited experience with them has been very positive.

I used to bring the car to Subaru of Calgary. I got tired of waiting for appointments only to have them tell me they couldnt reproduce the problem. They've been ok on other occasions though.

I started taking it to Centaur. I had a clutch shudder and popping out of first gear. Its a 4 page long story about what happened after that.. The jist of it though is that they fixed the clutch shudder, didnt bother touching first gear issue. Brought it back for first gear, they fixed that, and they messed up causing the transmission to leak fluid. Took 3 more visits to convince them the tranmission was leaking (kept telling me its residue. Theres a handful of nice BIG puddles on my garage floor. I doubt its all "residue" )I got that fixed, now the transmission grinds momentarly going into 3rd and I can't downshift into 1st whilst moving. They tell me its because of the way I drive the car.

I have brought my car 11 (ELEVEN) times to the dealers now because of the tranmission. I also brought up other issues related to cold start noises (but they left the car inside the garage overnight, so of course they cant reproduce them). I also have a really loud, annoying rattle from the back passanger side of my car. I showed it to them on a "test drive" with the service guy, and he acknoledged it was there. Both times I asked them to fix it though, I get the "can't reproduce" answer.

I think they've spent a total of around $4,000 "fixing" my transmission (case, 1st gear, syncro, two clutches, throwout) and it still doesnt work Would have been cheaper to give me a new one from the beginning. Everytime I bring it in, they fix one problem and cause another one........ I have Subaru of Canada looking into the situation now.

I don't like mentioning names, but certain service guys at centaur I find are total jerks/liers .....

IMO Id probably recommend strongly staying away from Centaur. Buy (you'll probably get a better price here too)/service your car at Subaru Calgary. They aren't anything special either, but definately better than Centaur.
