I am going to make plans to be a part of this. Considering that I pass SOA HQ numerous times per week. I feel like I know the people there! King of Pizza across the street (and down the block) should be the place for eats!

King of Pizza is def a good idea, but you might have a hard time stuffing everybody in there during lunch hours.

There's always the SOA cafeteria.

If you wanted to do Cooperstown again my parents bed and breakfast is empty that weekend. It is usually the Winter Carnival weekend so there would be at least one pancake breakfast fund raiser in town that weekend for those not staying at the bnb. We could then take back roads up for a lunch meet in 'cuse?

I'm working on getting all the details setup. For route and parties I have some ideas but here is a rough schedule as it stands right now in my crazy mind.... Very similar to last year with a few twists.

Thurs Night- Party/Dinner in Cherry Hill
Thurs Night Lodging- Holiday Inn adjacent to SOA
Friday AM- Breakfast in Cherry Hill
Friday AM- Meet and Greet @ SOA
Friday noonish- Cruise down through the Pine Barrens, then up the GSP (We should be in better shape this year so long as no one breaks during the PB portion)
Friday afternoon 5pmish- Dinner in Woodbury
Friday evening- Cooperstown
Saturday AM- Breakfast in Cooperstown (Singincanary's B&B is likely the best place!)
Saturday Day- Cruise up through the Adirondacks variable roads depending on weather
Saturday evening- Dinner Party at Mario's in Lake George This will be the big party of the event catered with a pre-paid price fixed meal and plenty of time to present awards, and give out door prizes
Saturday night- Hotel in Lake George (TBD, working on group rates right now)
Sunday AM- Breakfast in LG
Sunday Day- Cruise down toward the Taconic and toward newburgh, ny
Sunday afternoon- closing dinner in newburgh, ny (Good place for folks heading back to New England, PA, and wherever)

Thanks! I'll definitely be in touch for the details etc. It worked out well last year and it's still relatively close to Syracuse so those guys could come down the ~2hrs it takes to meet us Friday night or Saturday morning.

I felt going all the way out ot Syracuse would only wear folks down on the first day of driving, making Saturday a longer/more dangerous situation with folks working on little or no sleep.

Ok I just ran through a very rough course estimate....

925 miles from Cherry Hill to Newburgh, NY

Day 1-
Cherry Hill to Cooperstown (~355 miles) via:
SOA
Pine Barrens
GSP
Woodbury, NY
NYs Thruway
Backroads to B & B

Day 2-
Cooperstown to Lake George (~400 miles could be less weather depending) via:
Utica, NY
Old Forge, NY
Raquette Lake, NY
Indian Lake, NY
Benson Road
Sacandaga Lake
Mario's Italian Resturant in Lake George

Day 3-
Lake George to Newburgh (~170 miles) via:
Adirondack Northway
Taconic State Parkway
Dinner in Newburgh, NY

Mike, I can help with dinner plans in Woodbury on the way up. Options would be TGIFridays, Uno's, Chili's. I can also help with dinner for Sunday night in Newburgh. Options there are TGIFridays, Cosimo's (good Italian), Yobo's (good Asian/sushi), Barnstormers (good BBQ-if they are open on Sundays).

Let me know what you think.

_billy
If we went with maximum twisties, I think it will add about 45 minutes to the drive to Cooperstown.

Best route for twisties is to exit the Thruway at Kingston, take Route 28 to Phoenicia (25miles/38minutes), take Route 214 from Phoenicia to Hunter (15 miles/21 minutes), take Route 23A to Route 23 to Rt9 to Rt41 to Rt7 to Rt42 to Rt166 to Rt52 into Cooperstown (65miles/85minutes). That is a great way to go, but will obviously take a bit longer, and the trip from Phoenicia to Kingston has a BIG up/downhill/curvy section (a good and bad point). This is the route that I sometimes take in the summer on my way to/from Cooperstown.

I'm game for whatever route, and can take some back roads along the same route as last year for variations if that is preferred.

There is also the possibility of travelling up Route 17 past Goshen and exiting at Roscoe and taking back roads from there. About the same time wise, but not sure if they will have the washed out roads redone by then.

Yeah, i was figuring on up 23A to 23 and then kinda like how you said from there.

If we do that it should cut it down time wise by about 15-20 min, right?

Either dinner spots will work for me, however Italian Rest. tend to put mushrooms in their food so i would prefer the Ole Log Inn, the wife just like any food and would sway with Italian for their Fetuccini Alfredo.

Great prices on the rooms.

Yea, but is there a specific map as the route? So that I can meet up with it if it is close to me.

I should have a loose map up shortly. The only thing you can count on 100% is where we'll be each night for dinner and sleeping. With the changing weather, we sometimes modify the route mid-trip.

In Lake George Dr. G will have the bars covered, it's his home town and he essentially runs the place (hence the great room rates, etc)

wrxtasy555 will be taking care of making arrangements for dinner on Thurs, Friday and Sunday nights.

In mid January he's going to find out which places in the dinner spots we'll be going to take reservations and we'll then decide from there where to go ahead and make reservations at.

Things are starting to come together nicely!
