Is anyone else getting rust spots on the rear door frame? Its on both sides, right where the rocker flares out before the rear tire.
I live in new england and near the ocean, which im sure has something to do with it. It seems more like a design flaw, where sand would follow the air and blast the paint off that spot.
Any ideas for a good fix that wouldnt be very noticable? Getting sick of sanding and touching it up.

I've got the same car only with 67k. Mine has this clear strip across the rocker panel to protect from rust and chips. Mine is chewed up pretty good in the back but it seems to be working well. I have rust spots from rock chips on the lower part of the passenger door I just but RA mudflaps on so hopefully that stops most of the rocks/sand my wheels kick up!

Personally I think the RA flaps help out a lot with catching debris before it hits the side of your car.

Default subwoofer in the hatch

[quote=sevenones12;35089018]Hey guys. I just got a 2008 Wagon DGM 2.5i a few weeks ago and have been browsing around here reading up. So far I've thrown in a new Pioneer double din and my 10" Alpine type-R, put on yellow fog light layovers, Rally Armour mudflaps and debadged it. I'm starting to really like the car.
quote]

How well does the 10" sub sound in the hatch and would you recommend it? I've begun my search for a system and have little experience and guidance on buying a sub. I'm not looking to make the entire car shake, but good sounding bass.

Also, could you possibly take a pic of your trunk? I love snowboarding so I'll need room for my equipment and wasnt sure if the sub would cause an issue back there.

Was the installation of the RA's pretty simple? Got mine in the mail the other day hoping to have some time this weekend to put em on!

It sounds really good paired with the Pioneer HU. It'll be a bit more difficult, and not as good sounding if you put a subwoofer in to the stock HU, but it can still be done properly. And 10" with a tuned box is perfect really. Everyone thinks a huge box makes a subwoofer better, in my opinion it doesn't. I like tight clean beats, instead of louder thicker ones. When you buy a sub look for the Depth needed and the enclosure recommended volume, mine for instance was like .5 -1.2 sq ft or something like that. I built the box to .6 I believe. I ski a ton as well, and even in my GTI I just had, the sub was no problem, a grill would be nice though so nothing rests against it.

Here's a pic of the truck space, and then of the HU.

Did anyone have any info or knowledge on my concerns mentioned on the last page though?

It was. Front tires take about 5-15 minutes each, and the rear, a bit more since I took my tire off.. if you're good you can get away without it maybe. Check out their website for the installation video, really shows you what to do perfectly.

What he said, very easy! I used a right angle drive to get the rears and a stuby no.2 cabnet tip to get the fronts on.

Had a kicker then I sold it switched to a jl audio w6 and it sounded beautiful but I took it out cause it would make things rattle that you couldn't stop it.

For like $50-75 per tire, I think. Have fun.

Alternatively, you can put black electrical tape over the dash light. I don't think there's a bulb you can remove, but I don't remember. You might be able to pull a fuse, but it's probably not isolated. If you do a search you can find the ways people have dealt with the dash light.

You don't need TPMS for anything, so it's an optional expense.

But if it is normal, is there a way to turn this stuff off? I've only had standard cars, sure this might help some people, but I find it obnoxious at times..
My guess is that this is the electronic throttle map. The car is throttle-by-wire, there is not mechanical connection between the gas pedal and the throttle. Most of the rest of us are probably used to it by now, but coming from a different manual tranny, it may stick out to you. There are a bunch of threads around on the issue in some of the other NASIOC forums. It also might be your hill holder.

As far as I know, the fix is to get your car open-source tuned.

Also, I'm getting some weird vibration from the engine bay at about 3K RPMs. Sounds like, "VVVRrrrnn", and louder than the rest of the engine. Seeing as that's where I primarily shift, and the RPM hang while shifting, it doesn't sound good. I'll look into it more soon, maybe get a sound clip, but maybe someone knew what that was..

Anyways, I'll get some pics soon, and I look forward to joining the Subby community.
I believe this is also related to the throttle map.

Congrats on the car, and welcome!

I actually have two 10" MTX Jackhammers that take up a decent amount of room. But I was still able to go on a week vacation to the mountains with my lady, my dog (not a small one) and all the stuff needed for a week trip (minus food). Unfortunately no pictures (I'll take some this winter)

But as mentioned best bet is to get an aftermarket HU for better sound quality. As long as you have a mono block sub and know or can take it to a reputable installer then you are good. My buddy had a 7" bazooka that was wired correctly, sounding better than some 12" subs out there.

Hey new here! couple of questions:

One is for those who have the rear under spoiler.... any one install Rally Armor mudflaps with this and does it work?

Another question is I had the dealer install the rear underspoiler and it appears to be hitting the exhaust tank on bumpy roads making a thud noise is this normal?

Last but not least I really like the wrx hood...I know doesn't do any good but i like the way it looks :-) what is the cheapest i can get one for and does it void the warranty? Is this any good http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123 ? Any ideas the cost to paint one?

One other thing i was reading was about people installing sway bars in there cars. I live in Oregon home of ralitek and I went down there the other day and they said they don't sell them anymore. Any suggestions where I should get them and difficulty of install?

thanks and look forward to forums. I thought I would just ask all my questions at once.

Tmangt, thanks for the feedback. I'm likely just going to pick up one of those bazooka things cause theyre like $130 for a 10" from Best Buy and I have a gift card from last christmas haha. I'm not sure about changing the HU cause of losing the music and bluetooth buttons on my wheel. Theyre so fuggin convenient!

airkareem, I hope you're wrong about RalliTek cause I'm looking to buy their sways in the next month or so. The whiteline ones are around $400 I believe! Poop on that! Oh and the hoodscoop looks good and if I could find someone to swap with I'd definitely do it. Just dont add a WRX or STI badge cause that's lame.

Anyone else see the 2.5i badge someone made that looks identical to the STI badge? Its a legit idea, but I dont know what materials he used to make it.

The main bar to get is the rear. Any '08+ rear bar will fit and it is a piece of cake to install.

However the front bar is different. WRX bars won't work, they hit our exhaust.

Rallitek was the ONLY company that made front sways for our cars!
