Been looking at buying a roof basket since I go camping quite often and also do mobile detailing and I came across this one...

http://www.discountramps.com/roof-luggage-rack.htm

It's the biggest and least expensive I've seen so far, what are your guys opinions on it?

Looks like a shady install Lol. 4 u bolts only, sounds like it may come loose or something. Just my .02. If I were to get this I would problably add a little more security and sturdiness.

If you get anything rack related just stick to either yakima or thule.
Here's the one my brother uses on his 04sti: http://compare.ebay.com/like/2609914...Types&var=sbar
-This thing is sturdy as hell, plus yakima already makes accessories made specifically for subaru's, so why not? You might need some universal mightymounts if you have the oem crossbars, otherwise you'll have to shell out more for the right crossbars and other mounts.

Yeah, I already have the cross bars. The basket is one of the biggest I've seen. Which is big enough for most of my camping gear. (can't fit much inside the car because I'll have 2 kids in there.

For stuff like a rack I wouldn't want to skimp. I would hate to lose a bunch of stuff and possible damage my roof because the cheap basket I got failed.

I have contemplated getting a box since I have discovered that my car can comfortably seat 4. Yet only has enough luggage space for 3. Then I found out the box I want is $700+.

I was thinking about getting a box, but if I needed to haul wheels/tires, a cooler, or other things like that, a box wouldnt be ideal. I figured everything that cant get wet can go in the car, and all the other things (can go up on the roof, or even on a hitch basket)

You need a BIGGER car.

Also, keep in mind there's a limit of weight you can carry on your roof.

I would say just buy a new car like an outback or a forester. An impreza as a camping car imo is too uncomfortable for 4 people. Imho, the impreza is like a 2-3person camp car, due to limited space.

This is true hah. Although I will have to agree with jourdan, unless you make some modifications to the cheap basket to make it a lot more sturdier.
Plus you could always try and go the mini-trailer route if you get a hitch installed

Took a couple exhaust videos today, first one is a cold start and the second is after it warmed up.

It doesn't sound very deep, it sounds like it's on the verge of rasp, and it gets worse (IMO) as you rev higher.

Do you have pictures looking straight at it from behind? It almost looks angled down.

Look a few pages back...it might be slightly angled but it's probably because of the longer hangers I used so I could clear the bumper.

The Impreza IS a bigger car that what I used to have. (Scion tC).

I'm not planning on anything heavy on the roof, just the big bulky things, like a tent, canopy, chairs, and maybe clothes and sleeping bags.

It works, just no action shots yet.

That said, I'm just not entirely satisfied. I was hoping it would be rock solid when I was done, but there's some wiggle. I'm going to try to add some extra bracing at some point.

Also, using the hella wiring harness, the switch doesn't light up. Everything else functions as it should, just no lit up switch. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
