I thought the wrx and sti ones were bigger than 2.5i's. Size wise, not fitment

I thought WRX and STI had the same exact rear hatch wing placement/fitment, but definitely different in its structure...

All 08+2.5i's have the wimpy wing. In 08 the wrx had the wimpy wing as well. 09+ both wrx and sti have the same exact spoiler on the hatch.

I just picked up my 2010 2.5i sedan auto a week ago, I have auto cause I don't have any movement in my ankles and driving a 5spd I can do but it is a strain on my legs cause I have to use my thighs so it was easier to get an auto, I traded in my 2006 Eclipse and I am loving the awd in the impreza! gonna be a lot better in the upstate NY snow than the fwd eclipse was. new to these forums and just found this 08+ 2.5i dedicated forum the other day.

Installed a Cobb short shifter today. And man the snap ring is such a *****. Took me a good 30min -_-
Other then that everything works well. Definitely a weird feeling with a lot less travel time, but it feels a lot stiffer. I think I might of tightened the nut a little too much.

All the gears feel like 1st now lol

My advice for the snap ring, don't baby it pry it like you would with a nut under the engine bay. Its a lot more sturdier than it looks

Hah, I know exactly what your talkin about. However I had a snap ring pliers so it was easy as pie to put on/take off

Really? I used snap ring pliers too, but that thing pissed the pee out of me. In the end I just said YOLO and put hella force into it

I ended up just using the flat head and pryed it out Lol (after using the snapping pliers to get it partially out of course)

Now my next step is installing the oil press. Gauge :P how much wire do you guys think I'll need if I'm gonna do it from a sandwich plate?

Am I the only one who didn't have a problem? The whole install was a piece of cake. Snap ring included.

Install was easy also, except I didn't have an o ring plies so I used a regular needle nose and yanked it out.

Yeah thats basically what I did too. I went with the kartboy ss kit but I almost wish i went with the cobb so it would be just a little lower.
The kartboy ss looks like its shifted forward a lot more than oem but it feels normal driving wise... anyone else with a KB ss notice this?

@kart Did you make sure the SS was angling backwards?

Yeah, every gear Is a lot harder to shift. But thats a SS for you, I adjusted the torque for the bolt and nut on the shifter and I did torque it too much. I also increased the height of the knob about an inch up and that made it a little easier. (I have a Perrin knob so I can Inc. The height a little)

I might go in again some other time and adjust the knob height on the Cobb too

Yeah, I put it in backwards on the second try and the shifter would hit the the plastic trim on the backside and wouldnt even engage in first/third gear
Here's the way it sits now-minus the old sti knob
