Slide hammer and dent puller are the same thing. Most people don't know what you mean when you say slide hammer.

Going to have my first attempt at auto cross this weekend for fun. Just want to see what I think of it and if I like it at all.

Anyone have tips on how to launch the car without breaking parts? I have a 5 speed too.

Well for starters have your AC off so you have max POWAH!
Second, dont just dump the clutch but rev it till maybe about 4.5/5K and slip the clutch fairly aggressive where you can still put your head back but you dont hear a huge clunk from your tranny lol. Maybe JourdanWithaU can help with this

It's really easy if you have the space to slide the jaws inside. It'll make sense when you see one.

To the guy with smell under load...
I have the same smell. Found out I have two tubes comin out the top of the front diff and I notice they leak fluid out after I been runnin it hard. Ot leaks out there and runs down front of the diff. Have het to find a answer why it does this but been thinkin the smell I get is from the fluid being hot

Yes and no. The kit I'm referring to has the hammer and small 3 jaw puller.

Outback just go in and ask to see slide hammer kit. If u come in and ask for a dent puller I'm gonna go grab the suction cup things lol

You shouldn't need to launch the car. The clock should be right after the first corner. So doing a wicked launch or burnout won't really help you. And it also evens out the playing field a little bit in regards to RWD vs FWD vs AWD and how fast a car can get off the line.

Otherwise, I'm sure you've read up on all newbie AutoX FAQs and guides.

One suggestion that seems to get overlooked for first-timers. Try to get to the event earlier than you need to be. My first event, I ended up running late and it was crazy trying to get my ish together when I arrived.

I didn't realize that the clock started after the first turn. I thought I read it started once you crossed the line but I could very easily be wrong. But yes, I am currently reading up on all the autox guides and everything like that. I wont be the only first timer with my group of friends, I just don't want to embarrass myself haha Thanks for the tips, and I surely will arrive extra early to try and get a hang of things.

I use my DD and have great fun with it. It is as it came off the lot with the addition of an STI rear bar and some wider All Season Tires. Not super competitive but still a great time. Where are you located?

Then start looking for a local club, Definitely worth trying out.

Thats too bad! Well hopefully if I enjoy it, (and somewhat decent at it) I'll return for a few runs next season and maybe we can all meet up. Seems like a lot of fun, I just don't want to make too many rookie mistakes. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

This is kind of an odd post/request but, about 6 months ago, I traded in my 08' 2.5i for a 2012 wrx. I was wondering if the new owner posts on here? It was my first car and even though i LOVE my new wrx, it would be really cool to see what the new owner has done to it. if you know the new owner or ARE the new owner, shoot me a PM so we can shoot the breeze

this was one of the last pics I took before I traded it in, I gave it to the dealer exactly how you see it below, Mastro Subaru of Sanford FL

For those of you guys who I used to chat with, this is my new WRX today, enjoying it so far!

no, unfortunately I was not able to do it due to my living situation and I was forced to trade the car ASAP, It was a stressful series of things that happened right before I traded it in which is why is still kinda miss it, but thats life i guess.

It's very possible that it got parted out at the dealership and then sold to some grandma.

you would think so right? lol

my dealership is very 'mod' friendly, I was told that modded cars sell twice as fast for them. Weird right? I went 2 weeks later for a detailing on my wrx and they said it had sold but I didnt bother to ask to who. anyway, I know this is really awkward lol the chances of me meeting the new owner are slim but I figured I'd give it a shot, I used to like this thread

I also got to meet the girl who used to own the VW in the picture. She traded that for a blue 12' wrx sedan a week before me!
