You do not have to take any of the dash apart except around the radio itself. If you are careful, it pops right out with not a scratch anywhere. I can do it with a small screwdriver with some masking tape on the tip so as not to scratch the panel. It is the main piece with the vents and a cut out for the radio, that's it.

Yep, I had some uneven spots after the pull. I could have left it or smoothed it out, so I went with the option to not have my fenders look like a ruffles potato chip.

Where'd you get the new one from? I need to do the same.

I don't understand why some people have to be such a holes. Obviously I know how Google works, but asking a question to get a feel of where and how much someone paid for something is different than asking one just because I don't know where to start. Thanks anyway.

Subaru dealership. Being apart of another car forum I get a 20% discount on all parts. The filter cost me $22 after tax. Took me a total of 20 minutes to get it, install it, and come home and post the pictures.

I've been hearing a rattle lately from my trunk/rear end, but I can't seem to pinpoint it.

I had some extra deadening material left over from doing my door cards. So I decided to do what I could on my trunk lid. Not sure if this has solved the problem yet since I haven't driven my car since applying it.

Initial impression is that the trunk now feels solid. It closes with a "thud" instead of a tin can sound. I will eventually get around to deadening the entire trunk.

****ing Google. That's where you start. Always. 90% of the time, Google will have your answer. The other 10% of the time, it will get you pointed in the right direction.

Using Google is the same idea as using the search function here. Do some research on your own before you clutter up threads with pointless questions.

Fatmat XXX Rattle Trap.

I prefer Dynamat Xtreme, but someone was selling a roll of this locally for dirt cheap.

Reread what I wrote. You'll see that your response was absolutely uncalled for and irrelevant.

Fancy, thanks for the response. Exactly the answer I was looking for. How many miles do you have?

All of these are mainly used for fixes rattles right? I wanted to use Dynamat as a sound deadener for my exhaust but after some research, looks like it's not meant to do that.

Yeah, they are meant for sound deadening and rattles. They are to be used on sheet metal. You can muffle the sound coming into the car, but it won't muffle the exhaust itself.

Right I wanted to quiet down the sound coming into the cabin from the exhaust. I read that it isn't too great for sound deadening though. Let us know if you hear any difference with it on from road noise, etc, because I don't think you have an different exhaust right?

Just drove 30 miles. Didn't hear the rattle at all. Been driving my car super light to see how much gas I can stretch (testing myself).

I have an SPT catback. It's loud as hell when I step on it.

Yeah basically. After researching I've seen that using dynamat/raamat/fatmat with a layer of ensolite as well as some butyl with eliminate a lot of noise.

I has a similar problem. Had to quiet down the noise level coming into the car from the exhaust. I used dynamat on the entire hatch and dead hollow part under the spare tire. Then put down an entire layer of carpet lining (1/4 green foam that goes under the carpet) under everything in the hatch floor and hatch itself.

It helped with db level on highway drives and rattles. The dynamat cost 4x what the foam did, but I got away with only 4sq ft of dynamat for the hatch/spare tire well.
