What does a lightweight pulley do? (noob question)

My car seems fine, but any lowcost improvement is a worthy upgrade.

Reduces rotating mass around the crank, thus reducing stress on the engine and "frees" up some power. The stock pulley weighs like 6/7lbs IIRC and aftermarkets vary from like 1-3.5lbs depending on brand.

I think I'll get one of crank pulleys this summer, and possibly a master cylinder brace at the same time. Hopefully it'll make the car feel better overall. Hmm...Perrin or Grimmspeed?

+1, except I already have a brace
I prefer Grimmspeed for some reason but I think the Perrin may be lighter. I'm just not sure whether I should change the belt at the same time so early at 36.5k miles lol

If you do make sure you have the gates belt tool. Stinking stretch to fit was a pain in the butt. I just did without ac for a bit.

Also I have no preference between the two. When it came down to it both we mechanically sound so it was a decision based purely off of aesthetics and which I could find cheaper.

Maybe a Grimmspeed pulley will be up next for my car. I noticed my revs are already WAY more peppy with the AP addition.

Any one you guys running Subarus Extra S gear oil? I asked a tech awhile back if it would make a difference in our cars and he said no. Curious if anyone here uses it though, as I wouldn't have a problem switching over too it.

In other news, got the WRX in for an oil change at the dealership (cheaper here with coupons and discounts then DIY) and they have a BRZ on the showroom floor. Trying to convince my girl to trade in the WRX for it . This thing is fantastic looking and feeling inside.

Maybe I am retarted, probably am, but where is the PCV located exactly? I thought I located it on my intake manifold and took a wrench to unscrew it and it was pretty locked it there and was only gettin stripped.

IIRC its under the throttle body, should be a hose going to it
