Default New to subaru but not cars

Hi everyone I just picked up a 2008 2.5 outback/impreza sport with a 5 speed.
Any way it's pretty cool so far. 38k on it. Plans consist of driving normally haha. Maybe some wheels and suspension and trim later on. From what I heard online it's not worth trying to make the N/A 2.5 fast so why try. I also have a 1984 celica supra with build 2jzge. So here is the best picture I have taken so far and one of the supra.

Low and slow!

Cosmetic mods and making the exhaust sound good is what most of us do to them

Awww, those are so cool! Nice to see one that's in such good shape and original looking.

Welcome btw and 'grats on the 2.5i. They're great everyday cars.

Start with a new head unit. If that doesn't satisfy you then get speakers but I would highly advise to amp them.

Thanks, service records indicated subaru changed the radio out once before. I was thinking a doube din will replace it sooner or later. But my front left speaker distorts and sounds crappy at times.

Subaru stock speakers are terrible, you should definitely upgrade!

I am actually very pleased with the stock OBS speakers. Replacing just the head unit was a major improvement.

Rear reflector LED mod
3-LED 5050 strips

Bake the reflectors at 190 for 8 minutes and pry apart. These are held on by glue and not putty. Drill 2 holes for the wires and put 2 strips in each reflector.

I used superglue to put the reflector back together.

Solder on a diode and resistor in series for the running lights so they are dimmer, and just a diode for the brake lights. The diodes are used to not bring unwanted feedback into the car circuitry. Tap into the brake light wires for running lights, brake lights and ground.
Installed with running lights on.

Installed with brake lights on.

Yup I was surprised too. Went and test drove a 2014 base model then they showed me the 08 with the premium package for half the price of the '14 and low miles. Could not pass it up.

Thanks the supra has been a daily driver turned project for the last two years. Built the 2jzge my self. New rings, bearings, oil pump water pump. Had the head serviced. Full 2.5 exhaust and some suspension goodies. It'sa fun drive for sure.

I got my coilovers in the mail today now I need to find somewhere to have them installed at. If any one knows of any where in the Chicago land/ south burbs to have it done at any help would be appreciated.
I found one place they said 7-10 hours at $115.50 a hour that's more then I pad for the coilovers at 7 hours lol.. I would do it myself but I lose the year warranty if I don't have them professionaly installed.

They seem like quality parts just from handling them. I will let you guys know how they ride when I find some place to install them.

Should take 2 hours, it's super simple compared to other cars I've seen people put them on. Look up a walk through on here with pics and tool info, super easy.

Took me 2-3 hours to install coils including fine tuning the ride height! I wouldn't think who installs it would effect a warranty. If they break it'll be obvious if it's related to the install or part.

I would like to think I am mechanically inclined (not the first time I've worked on a car) and I have way more tools then I would need to do the job. Per the website you need to have them professionaly installed and have proof of that in order for the warranty to be good. Since they are $700 coilovers I want the year warranty in case they turn out to be junk....

You need to shop around. I would say a fair going rate is $60-80/ hour. A professional install should take no more then 3 hours tops.

...for that kinda rate you should do it yourself. Cost more to install then the coils are new. Could buy yourself a new set of coilovers for what you would pay them to install.

That's why I'm trying to find other places that would be cheaper.... and that's why I asked if any one around my area knows of any shops.

Give your local dealership a call. Some are more than happy to install aftermarket for you and the labor rate won't be anywhere near as high as that other quote.
